This past weekend we were lucky to host an author event with Meg Kissinger. Three hundred attendees were able to hear Meg's story of a family secretly struggling with severe mental illness. Following the event, everyone was able to explore mental health services in the Glenview area at our Community Mental Health Fair. This year at GPL we've been focusing on building a healthier, more well-connected community that fosters mental health and overall wellness in and around Glenview, and we hope this event was able to bring a little more awareness to mental health in our community. A special thank you to the Family Service Center, Glenview School Districts 225 & 34, Debra Gelfand Children's Foundation, and Glenview Park District for being amazing partners! If you would like to learn more about the participating organizations at our Mental Health Fair, or are looking for more impactful books like Kissinger's, please visit https://lnkd.in/g9a78BCq.

On Thursday evening we held a reception for Currents: A Community Art Project. The project is an inspiring installation that invites conversations on peace and unity in today’s world. Through facilitated sessions at the Library, local schools in Districts 34 and 37, and community groups, participants were asked to consider questions like, "What does peace look, feel, and sound like?" and "How do we foster unity in our families, community, and world?" Thanks to everyone who came out to the reception! And a very special thanks to all who took the time to share their words for this powerful community collaboration. You can view the exhibit in the lobby through January 17.
