Have you ever questioned whether every belief you hold is actually true—or truly yours? I once worked with a bright, self-aware teenager who discovered how her peers and social media were shaping her sense of worth. Unintentionally, she formed disempowered beliefs that led to choices causing emotional pain and inner suffering. Neurological Intelligence teaches us that beliefs generally come in two forms: disempowered and empowered. When a limiting belief forms during a highly emotional moment—often in our youth—it can take deep root in our unconscious. This can leave us triggered, reactive, and prone to projecting our discomfort onto others. To shift from victim mindset to growth mindset, ask yourself: “Am I aware when I’m triggered, and am I willing to question the belief behind it?” We tend to create rigid rules that define what must—or must not—happen for our beliefs to remain “true.” Disempowered rules attempt to control other people’s words and actions. This never works and often drains our personal power. By stepping back and re-evaluating these rules, we begin reclaiming control over our own thoughts, ultimately freeing ourselves from the trap of a victim mindset. Think of your mind as a classroom. Disempowered beliefs are like disruptive students who derail learning. By calmly addressing these “disruptions” and replacing them with supportive beliefs, you create a positive environment where growth and self-awareness thrive. In the end, my client turned her challenge into a powerful opportunity. By learning to manage her mind more mindfully, she evolved into a stronger, more empowered version of herself—and you can, too, by being kinder with your own mind.
