Enjoyed a deep dive with the Sapphire Ventures team on the exciting outlook of AI in the workplace. AI is here, now, and it's transforming the landscape by handling 100s of use cases for knowledge workers every day. The acceleration in AI innovation and adoption is phenomenal. Our users are constantly finding new ways to use Glean, showing that the true power of technology lies in its ability to evolve and meet diverse needs of knowledge workers in some of the largest enterprises out there, whether they are in tech or not. Some wisdom from the study by Cathy Gao and Kevin Burke that stayed with me: 1. "AI-native" is here today, but it will become something like a utility. As AI becomes a core component of nearly every product and service, the distinction will fade, similar to how "internet-native" or "cloud-native" are rarely used today. 2. AI-native applications excel in translating domain-specific activity into AI-accelerated workflows and synthesizing insights at scale. 3. Emergent signs of new business models, such as software-enabled services and agentic systems priced to deliver defined business outcomes.
Funding for Gen AI-native applications hit $8.5B this year, with 19 rounds exceeding $100M and nearly 50 companies surpassing $25M+ in ARR. The momentum is extraordinary–but what is a truly Gen AI-native company? Being AI-native isn’t about adding a few AI features to existing tools. It’s about rethinking software from the ground up, leveraging AI as a core capability to unlock entirely new use cases and capabilities. As the term “AI-native” gets thrown around, how do we separate hype from innovation? To answer this, we spoke with tech and product leaders at some of the hottest companies like Canva, Glean, Moveworks and Abridge, and developed a simple, actionable framework, which we’re calling the 5Ds—Design, Distribution, Dynamism, Domain Expertise, and Data. Take dynamism: AI-native applications are built to learn and improve with every user interaction. This constant adaptability transforms what software can deliver, and sets these companies apart from traditional SaaS solutions. Similarly, the best AI-native applications don’t just use data—they turn it into a defensible moat by leveraging proprietary datasets to unlock insights and build competitive advantages. The AI-native era is here, and here to stay. To help navigate this evolving space, we’ve also mapped the market to highlight where leading startups are gaining traction and setting new benchmarks. Read the full blog (linked in comments) for a deeper dive into how AI-native apps are defining the future of software. "Glean is the fastest way for you to bring useful enterprise AI to all of your employees. We make it easy for you to make all these amazing AI models work on your enterprise data in a safe and secure way." I’m excited to launch a new episode of Escape Velocity with Arvind Jain, CEO of Glean. This is a special episode because Arvind and I first partnered together when he was just getting the company off the ground, well before it had become a household name. Fast forward to today and Glean is widely considered one of the top AI platforms. At Latitude Capital, we've been excited to continue our support of Glean in this year's Series D and E -- but most importantly, I am proud to continue to partner with an incredible leader, true visionary, and great friend. In this in-depth and intimate conversation, Arvind and I go back to the early days of Glean and discuss the design choices and strategies that helped Glean achieve its ambitious vision, as well as where Arvind sees Glean and AI heading in the near future. This is a rare listen for anyone interested in learning from a giant in the AI space. Listen to our full conversation here:?https://lnkd.in/gh36r5aj (Spotify and Apple Podcast links in comments).

Agentic AI is transforming the workspace by creating systems that autonomously pursue goals and complete complex tasks with minimal human intervention. Built on the foundation of reinforcement learning's agent-environment loop, agentic AI systems observe their environment, decide on actions, and execute them to achieve goals. At Glean, we are innovating and continuously evolving our agentic reasoning architecture to power complex workflows, and our early research shows a 24% increase in the relevance of responses and actions using agentic reasoning. ?? “Glean was in some ways better positioned than OpenAI in the enterprise search market because its product is easier to install, use and manage, compared to using OpenAI models to develop similar search tools, said Darin Stewart, an executive at research firm Gartner.” Our co-founder and CEO, Arvind Jain, sat down with The Information’s Kevin McLaughlin to share how we’re making an impact with how businesses unlock the full potential of AI.
