It was fun having the folks from This is Alabama join us to witness GLAM Camp! We are proud to have launched this program in Sweet Home Alabama three years ago. We can't wait to expand our footprint to more communities in Alabama and beyond. Thank you to Bishop State Community College, President Olivier Charles, Dean Akareem Spears and Erica Gilkerson for working so closely and enthusiastically with us to develop GLAM Camp into the dynamic program model it is today. Thanks are also in order to our Host Sponsor AM/NS Calvert and our Aviation Day Sponsor Airbus. Industry leaders like these are making manufacturing a better place for women to work in every day, and still finding time to support and inspire the next generation of female leaders! We are ready to build the future manufacturing workforce, and we think it is going to be GLAMorous!
If you haven't heard of GLAM Girls Learning About Manufacturing, it's about time you learn about the engaging, hands-on program. “The mission of GLAM is really simple," says Robin Ricks, who is the Founder and Executive Director of the program. "We want to create interest in careers in manufacturing among the next generation of women who are going to enter the workforce.” Bishop State Community College is a key partner in this endeavor. "I definitely feel big pride about Bishop being a part of GLAM," said Akareem Spears, who is Director of Workforce and Economic Development at the college. "When you see those young ladies come in and they’re a little scared, and the next day after you see them do some activities they’re confident, they’re bright-eyed, and they know there’s a lot of opportunities here for them in the advanced manufacturing and manufacturing sectors.” Thanks to Made in Alabama - Alabama Department of Commerce for sponsoring this video! #alabama #workforcedevelopment #womeninmanufacturing
