Green Logistics: Cutting Emissions, Boosting Efficiency ?? India’s transport sector is the third-largest Greenhouse Gas (#GHG) emitter, with logistics alone contributing 12% of CO2 emissions. That’s why #GreenLogistics is crucial – by reducing carbon emissions, using renewable energy, and optimising routes, we can make transport and supply chains more climate-friendly. To advance this important topic, we outlined key recommendations, featured in an article published by the TCI Group (Transport Corporation of India Limited). The piece explores the key challenges and drivers in the logistics sector and outlines a governance roadmap to build a more sustainable, efficient, and climate-friendly ecosystem in India. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gTgSPh82 ?????? ????????????????: ? Integrate #RenewableEnergy and green logistics policies, plans and schemes at central and state levels. ?? Encourage private sector participation in decision-making through appropriate institutional structures. ?? Drive a mass movement to raise awareness, promote sustainable practices at the company level, and influence consumer choices. ??? Learn from the Swachh Bharat Mission for effective programme development. ?? Build a highly skilled logistics workforce and leverage digital and technological tools to implement innovative solutions in supply chains. Together with our partners, we are shaping a greener future by developing sustainable logistics solutions. Urban India takes climate action! The International Climate Initiative #IKI is actively supporting the integration of #climateaction measures into #urbanplanning in India, helping cities become more resilient and sustainable. With rising temperatures, flooding, and water shortages, it is essential to embed climate considerations into urban development. Cities are not only major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions but are also highly vulnerable to climate change impacts. Climate-sensitive planning is crucial for a #sustainablefuture. Through initiatives like Urban-Act, IKI is promoting strategies that prioritise climate action in urban design. This includes introducing green infrastructure, reflective surfaces, and sustainable materials to enhance urban resilience and improve quality of life. Such initiatives are vital to preparing India’s cities for the challenges of climate change while contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
