关于我们

Giving Compass is a one-stop shop for individual donors to learn about issues, get involved, and give to organizations. Focused on equity, effectiveness, transparency, and systems change, we connect donors to learning content, resources, and tools to give in ways more likely to make a difference. Giving Compass was inspired by Jeff and Tricia Raikes, Co-Founders of the Raikes Foundation. They were enthusiastic about learning how to take their generosity to the next level but found it difficult to find targeted resources to guide their strategic giving. Giving Compass was created to address this opportunity, in collaboration with leading philanthropic organizations.

Solitary Confinement of Pregnant Women: A Step Backwards A California bill seeking to ban solitary confinement for pregnant inmates has been amended, raising serious concerns among advocates. The revised bill allows for up to five days of solitary confinement, undermining its original intent to protect the health and well-being of incarcerated pregnant women. It can lead to increased rates of depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions, as well as complications during pregnancy and childbirth. Addressing Diet-Related Health Disparities While progress has been made in improving American diets, significant disparities persist. Many individuals continue to struggle with access to healthy, nutritious food, leading to poor health outcomes and increased risk of chronic diseases. These disparities are often exacerbated by factors such as income, education, race, and ethnicity. Addressing these underlying issues is essential for achieving true health equity. Researchers investigated data from 10 cycles of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 1999 and 2020 found that the proportion of adults with poor dietary quality decreased from 48.8% to 36.7% over these two decades, while those with intermediate diet quality increased from 50.6% to 61.1%. They also found that the proportion of adults with an ideal diet improved but remained starkly low, from 0.66% to 1.58%. Let's work together to promote healthy eating habits and ensure that everyone has access to the nutritious food they need to thrive. ??Read "Health Inequities Still Exist Among Americans Despite Diets Improving" to learn more about this important issue and how you can support positive change. ??https://lnkd.in/eFCyPxKS #health #nutrition #inequality #publichealth
