I spent a considerable amount of time early in my career in New Mexico and always loved my time in District 2 in the Ruidoso area. Made lots of friends and always tried to give back to the community that gave me my early breaks. Ruidoso captured my heart like many others that live and vacation there. Praying for the residents of Ruidoso and surrounding villages during this devastating fire.

A day late but as I contemplated Earth Day yesterday and my own personal evolution in this industry, i wanted to express how fortunate I feel to have aligned myself with some of the best and brightest people, products and performance based materials that are truly shifting the paradigms of pavement preservation. From a crack seal technology that’s made from 50% sustainable materials utilizing resins with incredible visoelastic strength Composite Crack Seals EnFlex, CamoSeal and Mastic CamoSeal, to a plant based asphalt rejuvenating agent Delta-S that allows for pavement production with higher RAP percentage mix, a warm mix additive that allows for hot mix to be produced and compacted at reduced energy consumptions and at cooler temperatures. An emulsified spray applied penetrating rejuvenating agent Delta-Mist. To an amazing and highly UV reflective asphalt sealer that’s asphalt is derived from recycled auto tires called TRMSS. The talents of these products and helping to put them into the hands of agencies tasked with keeping their roads and streets in excellent condition is what still drives me every day. Cheers.

We lost a good one this week. Pete Montenegro was a kind gentlemen and loved Pavement Preservation. He worked in polymer sciences with both BASF then Kraton. The last several years he helped bring an asphalt rejuvenation agent Delta-S and Delta-Mist to market with Collaborative Aggregates. A New Englander who semi-retired to Florida and his favorite title and job was “Grampy.” I used to joke with him that an A is not pronounced with an ER. We’ll miss his energy and infectious smile and laugh. If you ever recieved an email from him you’d think he was an English major all sentences ending in … please. Definitely a guy that knew who he was and was unapologetic of his unique and endearing quirks. Cancer may have cut his life short but he enjoyed working right up to the end and you’d never know truly sick he was because his attitude was so very positive. Rest easy pal. Your contributions will continie and your spirit will live on.

#TRMSS Texture Seal - Protecting and beautifying asphalt pavements #TRMSS is a beautiful and effective early pavement preservation tool.
