The Portland metro area's guide to doing good.

关于我们

Give!Guide is Portland's easiest path to end-of-year giving. The campaign begins on November 1 and closes at midnight December 31. It's Willamette Week’s annual effort to raise funds for — and draw attention to — the good works of local nonprofits. G!G has raised more than $64 million for hundreds of local nonprofits since inception in 2004. Last year’s campaign raised $8.35 million for 250 local nonprofits! G!G is supported by hundreds of local businesses, provides healthy incentives to donors, and emphasizes giving by Portlanders under the age of 36 to build a culture of citizen engagement.

  • Fundraising is hard work. But it is also rewarding work. As we move into the new year, we don’t feel any shame in acknowledging the end of 2024 has been fiscally, politically and emotionally difficult to campaign in. If you had asked us how we felt about meeting our goal at the start of the campaign, the only honest answer we would have been able to give was “nervous.” ?? But right now, we’re feeling frickin’ grateful. The community of the Portland metro area (and sometimes beyond!), pulled together and showed up for 250 participating nonprofits. Through incredible generosity, as of midnight on Jan. 1, 2025, we raised $8,867,393 million from 16,336 donors. ?? You may be tired of hearing it, but we really can’t thank you enough! In a remarkable display of generosity, the community (that includes all of you!) has once again shown its commitment to supporting and uplifting residents who need it the most.? We could not have achieved G!G’s highest goal EVER without you donating, advocating, sharing and reinforcing this year’s campaign. All of our efforts were more than worth it, and we are elated to have once again set a new precedent in G!G history. ?? You’ve all come together to bolster over 200 local organizations and elevate the community's well-being. Pat yourselves on the back, you deserve it because you all are truly amazing. ?? Thank you, from the G!G team!

Everyone knows that gnawing stomach feeling of hunger. Many of us are privileged because we can afford food, meaning we don’t stay hungry for long. But in the Portland metro area, community members are quietly impacted by hunger daily. Approximately 8%-12% of residents and 10%-16% of children face food insecurity; 38% of these individuals don’t qualify for federal assistance. That means most of the aid they receive comes from the community! Today we’re highlighting the nonprofits in this year’s Hunger category that support hungry families and individuals. Each day these nonprofits work to combat hunger, weaving a strong net of resources to catch those at risk of falling through the cracks. ?? “Food insecurity isn’t just about empty stomachs. It’s about children struggling to focus in school, families enduring heightened stress, and communities unable to fully thrive. It impacts sleep, health, and overall well-being. Food is an invaluable common language that connects us to one another. When everyone doesn’t have equitable access to the food they need to flourish, the ripple effect impacts us all,” Abby Schwalb from St. Johns Food Share on behalf of the nonprofits in the Hunger category. The nonprofits in this year’s Hunger category understand there is no one-solution approach to solving hunger in our community. That’s why they tackle the many facets of hunger, including symptoms and root causes. But they need your help! Head over to giveguide.org to toss one, two, three, or even four of these nonprofits a few dollars and support their cause. Come back on Wednesday, Dec. 18 for our next Big Give Day, where there will be six opportunities to win! ?

  • Living in Oregon is an environmental privilege. From the breathtaking beauty of the Gorge to incredible city and state parks, we have so much to love and protect. ??That includes clean drinking water, shaded neighborhoods, year-round guided outdoor explorations and much more! These privileges exist because of stewardship, intentionality, passion, and hard work. Who are the ones doing some of that hard work? Well, the nonprofits in the Environment category of Willamette Week’s Give!Guide, of course! No matter the season, these organizations work hard to help us all connect with, cherish, and sustain our natural treasures. Today, we’re shining our spotlight on them! ?? “We plant and protect the trees that clean the air we breathe. We remove concrete and asphalt from the land. We protect and acquire undeveloped land to provide habitat for a variety of life and to give people a place to explore, play, or just be,” says Pamela Slaughter from People of Color Outdoors, on behalf of the Environment category. “We’re working to ensure that future generations can experience nature’s magic. Every one of our nonprofits is deeply committed to being a part of the solution,” While there are a lot of ways you can help preserve the natural beauty of our state, donating to any of the nonprofits in this year’s Environment category is one of the easiest. So, head on over to giveguide.org and toss them a few dollars. When you do, you know you’ll be funding a sustainable future for us all. ??
