Our board member Douglas Davis, MD, PhD ???? ???? shared a reflection on the trident—Ukraine’s iconic national symbol. We’re inspired by the strength of our partners in Ukraine and the communities they support who continue to persevere. Together, we remain committed to supporting their efforts and standing with them. #Ukraine #1000Days #Resilience #HumanitarianSupport MedGlobal Ukrainian Medical Association of North America-UMANA Friends of Be an Angel Be an Angel e.V. Freedom isn't free - 1000 Days of Ukrainian Resilience ВОЛЯ (Volya or “Volia”) can be translated as “will” or “freedom”, but it is much more: the way of living and the internal driving power to overcome all obstacles. Today, I sit at Chopin Airport in Warsaw on my way home from Ukraine, reflecting on just how much passion and spirit of volia I've witnessed over the last 1000 days. ВОЛЯ gives Ukrainians strength to fight against Russia's invasion and to remain forever unbroken. Did you know that there's a hidden meaning to the "Tryzub" (Trident), Ukraine's iconic national symbol? As a symbol of power and authority, the trident was used by the rulers of Kyivan Rus' and represented the unity of the Slavic peoples of the region. It is believed that the three prongs of the trident signify the Holy Trinity or, possibly the elements of fire, water, and earth. But separating each piece of the trident spells ВОЛЯ...FREEDOM! Ukrainians are the fiercest freedom fighters in the world. We all could learn a thing or two about it from them. #USA4UA Nataliya Uboha Taras Khaba Ulyana Khaba, MD Olga Maihutiak ???? From Douglas Davis, MD, PhD, Give to the World Board Member One of my favorite quotes, often attributed to Harry Truman, says, “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” While there’s truth in that, our recent discussions at the MedGlobal and Razom conference in Chicago reminded me that recognition, especially for partnerships, plays a vital role in advancing the work we do on the ground.
