Started in 2015, Girls Rock! Phoenix is a volunteer-run 501c3 non-profit that creates more opportunities for girls and gender-non-conforming kids to RISE UP & ROCK OUT through music creation, education, and performance. ???????????????? In just one week, about 60 individuals ages 8-17 have learned their instrument, formed a band, written a song, named their band, created logos and screen printed their t-shirts, and recorded their song for our mixed tape! Between band practices, they've created art, explored many musical interests, formed bonds with each other that only music creation can foster, and learned more about themselves and the colorful world around them. This SHOWCASE is the culmination of their joyous and sometimes challenging experiences together. If you know anything about Girls Rock! Phoenix, you should know that we aim to make music accessible to ALL girls and gender-nonconforming youth. Rock Camp functions on a sliding scale, meaning that if a camper can't pay, they name their price, and we make adjustments accordingly. We organize carpools for campers as necessary, feed all of our campers and volunteers breakfast and lunch, and this year, we're even working on a childcare component so that camp is more accessible for volunteers! Events like the BENEFIT BASH are crucial because they bring together the community. Yucca Tap Room and these amazing bands show their support for GR! Phx, and it's your presence and contribution that truly helps us achieve our mission. We're in this together, and we can't do it without you. ?? BE OUR BAND MANAGER AT #GIRLSROCKCAMPPHX2024 ???? Have you always wanted to be in a band but don't have technical musical experience? This should do the trick! ?? Though longtime volunteer Kat ?? here plays many instruments, many of our band managers don't! We need band managers to keep the band on schedule, bring in any needed reinforcements, ensure everyone feels good and heard, and so much more. Bring your camp counselor vibes and make camp magic happen with us! ? This is a great way to be immersed in Rock Camp! ??? We need band managers to be around most of each of the five days - and live showcase on June 29, 2024! Band Managers are the "camp counselors" of Rock Camp! They are the primary contact for their campers throughout the day and serve as mentors and role models for campers. Although no musical experience is required, they will team up with the band coach and are encouraged to help with the songwriting process. ?? The Band Manager supports campers during each camp activity (e.g., workshops, lunch, breaks, etc.) and maintains the safety and well-being of their campers at all times.
