Confidence isn’t lost overnight—it’s shaped by the messages a girl hears every day. Dove's latest #keepherconfident campaign (watch here - https://lnkd.in/dc8XHQcy) highlights a tough reality: self-doubt starts young, and without positive reinforcement, it can hold girls back from reaching their full potential. At Girls on the Run, we know that confidence is a skill that can be nurtured. Through mentorship, movement and intentional lessons, we equip girls with the tools to quiet their inner critic, celebrate their strengths and support one another—so they grow into strong, brave leaders. Now more than ever, we all play a role in shaping the next generation of confident, capable women. Whether you're a mentor, educator, parent or community leader, your encouragement can make all the difference. How do you empower young girls to embrace their confidence? Let’s keep this conversation going.

The Power of Positive Self-Talk. Small gestures can have a big impact. One of our incredible Girls on the Run coaches recently provided a simple yet powerful snack for her team—bananas with affirmations like: ?? “You are enough.” ?? “You rock!” ?? “Be your best self” ?? “Inspire yourself and others!” This thoughtful act aligns perfectly with one of our core lessons: the power of positive self-talk. Just as we fuel our bodies with nutritious food, we must also fuel our minds with encouragement and belief in ourselves. At Girls on the Run North State, we help girls develop confidence, resilience and lifelong habits of self-empowerment. Small moments like this reinforce why building a strong foundation of self-worth at a young age makes a lasting difference. How do you incorporate positive self-talk into your daily life? Let’s continue lifting each other up—because words matter. ??

?? Employee Spotlight: Claire Johnson, Executive Director of Girls on the Run North State ?? Claire's journey with Girls on the Run began in the fall of 2011, inspired by her youngest daughter, Olivia’s participation as a 4th grader. Holding a degree in Communications-Public Relations from Chico State, Claire's career path includes roles as a 2nd grade checkers champion, summer camp counselor, marketing/public relations/sales executive in the recreation industry, and, most proudly, MOM to three strong, confident young women. Claire's WHY for doing all that she does for Girls on the Run is two-fold. Claire shares, “I know that by building up girls in our community to become strong, confident women, our entire community benefits. I also know that so many girls start out believing they can be anything, do anything, and then, sadly, adolescence slowly chips away at their confidence and dreams. I LOVE watching my own daughters go after their dreams with gusto, passion and confidence. They know their potential is limitless and I want EVERY girl to know her?potential is limitless too!" Outside of work, Claire loves walking, running, hiking—any kind of moving forward in the outdoors—especially in the mountains near a lake! She also enjoys listening to live music, riding bikes through Bidwell Park with her husband Mark, and spending time with her family. Thank you, Claire, for your dedication and passion in helping girls gain confidence and navigate their world in a healthy way with Girls on the Run! #GirlsOnTheRun #Leadership #Community #Inspiration #Empowerment

Goal-setting skills influence every area of our lives. Why? Setting goals isn’t just about what we want to achieve at the moment -- it’s also about who we want to become in the future. That’s why, through our 6th-8th grade program, Heart & Sole, we encourage middle schoolers to set goals that reflect their values and passions. By setting goals that align with their innermost desires, girls can develop a strong sense of purpose and direction in life.
