Empowering girls through group mentoring!

关于我们

Girls2Women-VA is a group mentoring organization for girls! Our mission is empowerment. Through this mission, we aspire to enable our mentees to create stronger relationships with themselves and their community. Our mentoring circles focus on topics related to the transition from girlhood to womanhood, including self-love, safety, healthy relationships, boundary setting, mindfulness, and so much more. We utilize the PIES model in our circles, which focuses on the Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Social aspects of the self. This enables mentees to be mindful of how their mind and body interact, and how internal and external stimuli impact how we feel. We are located in numerous middle schools across Chesterfield, Prince George, Colonial Heights, and Hopewell, including a Community Circle for high school aged mentees.

  • Girls2Women-VA’s primary purpose as a mentoring organization is to empower girls and women in the community to be their most resilient and authentic selves. Since our founding in 2018, we have reached hundreds of girls. What better way to demonstrate our impact than by hearing from the girls themselves about how G2W-VA has changed their lives! Welcome to our Testimonial series, where we will share testimonials from some of our mentees! In Testimonial #1, we hear from Kemaia, a senior at Hopewell High School who joined our organization this year! Kemaia shares how G2W-VA has helped improve her social skills, emotional regulation, and ability to connect with others. She has been accepted into SIX different colleges as a graduating senior, and has aspirations of owning her own nursing home in the future (which of course, we know she will accomplish)! Please join us in congratulating Kemaia, and look out for more testimonials from our great mentees!

  • ?? SPRING FLING 2025 IS HERE! ?? Date: Saturday, April 12, 2025 Time: 6:00PM-9:00PM Location: American Legion Auxiliary 186 at Otterdale Road, Midlothian, VA 23114 To support the rapid growth of our organization, G2W-VA introduced our Spring Fling Fundraiser in Spring 2024. Spring Fling 2024 solidified our place in the non-profit sphere, exemplifying our ability to not only connect with our mentees, but also the greater community in Richmond and the TriCities. We were able to share the history, purpose, and impact of our program with the community, and raised over $6,000 to support our organization; this could not have been done without the support of our donors and sponsors! We want to continue to share our purpose, and continue expanding our program so that we can reach even more girls. For this purpose, and because of the success that Spring Fling 2024 was, we are excited to announce Spring Fling 2025! Join us for an evening of fun, food, beer/wine, live music, and a silent auction! Here are four ways you can support our fundraising goal of $15,000 for Spring Fling 2025: 1) Purchase general admission tickets for $50 2) Purchasing a sponsor ticket (various level available at different price points) 3) Donating towards the Spring Fling 2025 fund 4) Sharing this post with everyone you know who may be interested in supporting/attending We look forward to our community’s continued support in the growth of our organization, and can’t wait to see you at Spring Fling 2025! Girls2Women-VA is hosting our first Career Empowerment Day, in celebration of National Girl Child Day! The event will be on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 12:00-4:00PM at Central Library [7051 Lucy Corr Blvd, Chesterfield, VA 23832]. The purpose of this event is to give our mentees the opportunity to see powerful women in various career fields, from which they can draw inspiration. We want to highlight the gender, socioeconomic, and ethnic disparities that exist in the career field/workforce and empower our mentees to think outside the box in terms of what they can ultimately choose their professional life to look like! The event will involve a series of guest speakers and interactive workshops, led by various women career professionals who will share their experience in their career field. With this event, we are celebrating National Girl Child Day, observed yearly on January 24th in India to shed light on the injustices and inequalities faced by girls. By celebrating National Girl Child Day, we seek to bring awareness to gender inequality globally, especially for our sisters in the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa, as well as celebrate the perseverance and strength of girls and women everywhere. If you are interested in joining us at Career Empowerment Day, please RSVP at the following link: https://lnkd.in/esxCcBQk Mentees wanting to attend must submit a signed permission slip to their lead mentors! Have questions about Career Empowerment Day? Send them to our Social Media and Marketing Lead, Cedricka Alexander, at [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you there!

#GivingTuesday is a day dedicated to charitable giving! Celebrated on December 3, it is the day to celebrate your favorite nonprofit organizations by donating to their mission. Over the past 6 years, Girls2Women-VA has been committed to bringing positive change to the lives of hundreds of girls in the Richmond and Tri-Cities area through our in-school mentoring program. Mentoring provides young women a safe place where they can talk about what is really going on in their lives, as well as a community of mentors and peers who listen, believe in them and help them make better choices. For this year's #GivingTuesday, your support can help us reach our funding goal of $4,000 and achieve a remarkable milestone that meets our goal of changing young lives. All donations will go to programmatic expenses that directly impact each girl participant. As we approach the year's end, we are deeply aware that during this difficult time, our young ladies need our support more than ever. We invite you to be a pivotal part of our Year-End campaign, and together, let's make a lasting impact in the lives of young people in our community! Please support local, and count us in your year-end giving plans. You can donate here: https://lnkd.in/eh6Kvd2y

We hosted a watch party of the Netflix film Daughters on November 20, 2024! The newly released film was created by our partnering agency, Girls for a Change, to bring awareness to the lived experience of those growing up without their father. Thank you to all of those who attended the watch party at Hopewell High School! It was a small, but impactful event that resonated greatly with those who attended. At the end of the film, we heard the stories of many attendees, who bravely shared their experience with navigating life without a father. It was a night of true community, vulnerability, and connection that we are incredibly grateful to have hosted! We believe that everyone, regardless of your upbringing, should watch Daughters. The film will impassion a vulnerability in you that may be uncomfortable at first, but you will leave feeling more empathetic to those who have experienced growing up without a parent. Most importantly, it will inspire you to engage more intentionally with your own loved ones, whoever they may be! Send them love in whatever form you can! ?? You can watch the film on Netflix here: https://lnkd.in/e7eZa8YQ

Commit to at least one year of service (6-8 hours per month) ? Willing to adhere to G2W-VA policies and procedures ? Attend Level 1 and Level 2 mentor trainings (dates below) ? Level 2 | Saturday, October 12, 2024 ? Level 1 (second offering) | Saturday, January 25, 2024 Level 1 training prepares prospective mentors with the skills needed to be a part of circles, while Level 2 focuses on how to lead circles. For further information about the times/locations of trainings and to RSVP (required): https://lnkd.in/eavQzS5h * Background checks are paid for at the expense of the prospective mentor. G2W-VA does not pay for or reimburse for the cost of background checks.
