关于我们
At Girls on the Run Capital Region we inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Girls on the Run Capital Region, Inc. was founded in Fall 2013 as an independent, 501(c)3 council of Girls on the Run International. We serve girls in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Schenectady counties. Our first team of ten girls was held in spring 2014. Thus far we have served almost 3000 girls and we are continuing to grow. More than 100 volunteers each season offer their time and talents to make this program come alive for our girls. At Girls on the Run we inspire ALL girls to build confidence and make intentional decisions, while fostering care and compassion for self and others. Trained coaches use physical activity and dynamic discussions to build social, emotional and physical skills in every girl while encouraging healthy habits for life.

We're spotlighting ?? Coach Katie ?? today! ???? Katie is a volunteer coach for our middle school, Heart & Sole, program at Mechanicville Area Community Services Center, Inc. and she has been a coach with Girls on the Run for 6 seasons! ???? We asked Coach Katie some questions about her time with GOTR and here's what we learned: Q. ????♀? What is your favorite thing about coaching a team of girls in this program? A. I love that I get to watch these amazing girls I’ve gotten to coach, grow! ? Q. Please share your favorite GOTR memory ?? with us.? A. This is a hard question for me I have so many great memories of my time here. I guess my favorite one would be from my first 5k as a coach! I was able to get the girls and their running buddies psyched up for the 5k and we started to go through all of our GOTR cheers! At some point the girls started talking about their favorite breakfast food and they started cheering for Bacon. At our celebration, we had a Bacon pizza for a job well done! ? Q. ?? What is one thing you'd like us to know about you?? A. My favorite quote is “If not us then who, If not now then when”- John Lewis.? ? We are so grateful for Coach Katie's service as a Girls on the Run Coach over these past 6 seasons. She has a huge heart and cares so much about the whole program. Thank YOU, Katie, for all you do!
