??Calling all students all majors ?? As you prepare for your internship or start applying, it’s important to keep your skills in mind. I didn’t know how to use tableau I remember Googling how to use it and watched YouTube tutorials to create the reports I needed. The team I was working with found out I didn’t know how to use it and made the time to give me a tutorial. It was one of the most humbling experiences I’ve had… Since then, I’ve added two business analytics classes to my schedule for next semester, and I’m now learning SQL and Python through GoSkills. All internships and entry-level jobs seem to ask for experience. Sadly, not all students-especially international students have the opportunity to find paid or remote work. For the past two weeks, we’ve been sharing remote volunteer opportunities, and now we’re opening up the spreadsheet of 40+ volunteer opportunities to the public! Volunteering is a great way to: ??Build experience for your resume. ??Get opportunities no matter your immigration status. ??Stand out on college applications and scholarships(especially for high schoolers). ??Prepare for internships or programs down the line. We’ll keep posting new opportunities every week in our newsletter and on social media so you don’t miss out! ?? Thank you Alonso Garcia for these updates on FAFSA and CADAA for Mixed-Status Students as ????
?? Important Update on FAFSA and CADAA for Mixed-Status Students ?? Earlier today, NCAN shared an alarming update, echoed by federal sources, indicating that the Trump administration is reportedly exploring ways to mine FAFSA data for immigration enforcement purposes. This raises serious concerns about the safety of student data submitted through FAFSA. What you need to know: -FAFSA: At this time, we cannot guarantee the protection of student data submitted through FAFSA. -CADAA: Student data submitted through the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) remains secure. CADAA is run by the state of California and is protected under California’s Sanctuary State law. Key Information for Mixed-Status Families: -Students eligible for FAFSA but concerned about data privacy can instead complete the CADAA. -CADAA makes students eligible for state financial aid (e.g., CalGrant), though not for federal aid like the Pell Grant. The California Student Aid Commission has issued an official announcement, which is attached here. We urge everyone to share this information widely with educators, counselors, and anyone working directly with mixed-status students to ensure they have access to secure financial aid options for the upcoming year. Let’s continue to stand by our undocumented and mixed-status students and protect their right to education and safety. #HigherEd #UndocumentedStudents #FinancialAid #EquityAndAccess

?? Virtual Events for students get exposure to internships ?? In my last post, I shared some free travel opportunities. I’ve also prepared a full PDF that includes additional conferences and programs for students, which will be available in the newsletter next Wednesday. ALSO... I’ve noticed my posts are gaining a lot of traction with reposts, and I’ve even seen some platforms include the information I’ve shared in their newsletters. It takes a lot of time to find these opportunities, but I understand what it’s like to not know what’s out there or what you can apply for—especially coming from a non-target school. Because of that, I’ve decided to include virtual programs as well, for those who are unable to travel: ??
