Executive Director at Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara

This week, Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara was honored to receive a special resolution from the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, officially proclaiming March 8th as International Women’s Day. Sponsored by Supervisors Laura Capps and Joan Hartmann, this recognition celebrates the importance of supporting and celebrating girls and young women to reach their full potential. We are all better off in a world free of gender inequities! International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on the progress made toward gender equity and to celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women and girls in our community. This year’s theme, “Collectively, we can Accelerate Action,” encourages all of us to work together to create opportunities, remove barriers, and uplift the next generation of female leaders. Supervisor Capps shared, “International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month mark a time to honor the fearless, brave women who came before us – and the work, sacrifices, and advocacy they tirelessly made to pave the way for young women and girls today. It gives me so much hope for our future knowing that Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara is investing in young women today to be strong, smart, and bold.” At Girls Inc., we are committed to ensuring every girl has the support, skills, and confidence to thrive. Through mentorship, hands-on learning, and leadership development, we provide a pro-girl environment where girls can grow into strong, smart, and bold individuals ready to make a difference. We are grateful to the Board of Supervisors for recognizing the importance of this work and to our entire Girls Inc. community—families, supporters, and partners—who believe in the power of girls and an equitable society. And we are so proud of our strong, smart and bold girls who addressed the County Board of Supervisors, Mika, Aly and Emme! Your confidence shines and inspires us all. Together, we can continue to build a world where every girl has the opportunity to lead and thrive! #IWD2025 #Strongsmartbold Nicole Noren Bailey Estrada Roxanne Pereira Natalia Alarcon
