We have had movements in history that have underscored the power of collective action, strategic advocacy, and perseverance in driving societal change. From the Abolition of Slavery, Civil Rights Movement, Suffragette Movement, Anti-Apartheid Movement, Environmental Movement, LGBTQ+ Rights Movement, Global Health Campaigns, Black Lives Matter (BLM), Me Too Movement, Right to Health and Access to HIV Treatment. Granted, we still haven't fully locked in, but these movements have IMPACTED OUR lives. The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign was launched in 1991 by the Center for Women's Global Leadership at Rutgers University. 33 years later, we are still on. But really, what is advocacy? How can we fully experience the gains? We must all have to keenly and intentionally engage. Listen and lean in with us?on Girls Health Ed's webinar?as we interrogate what intersectional and progressive advocacy is for girls. We must demand an advocacy that carries all of us and yields impact and scale for every single girl across the world. #16Daysofactivism #Girls #UNWomen Priscilla Ngunju BSc. 2 Questions for the 2nd Day of 16 Days of Activism: 1. Did you know that the world's population is estimated to be almost three times what it was in 1950? 2. Did you know that in 2022, we had about 3.95 billion women on earth? Now remember that every 10 Minutes, a woman dies in the world due to femicide. One of the most definite ways to address femicide and all other ills that face women and girls is to hold intersectional conversations that allow for the space to not only share what we are already all doing but also to innovate and speak on how many factors will have to come together. On the 10th of December, Girls Health Ed will be hosting a webinar. This webinar brings together a powerhouse of experts whose work transforms the lives of women and girls through Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), inclusion, girl leadership, collective action, mental health, and intersectional advocacy. We would love to have you in the room. ?????? https://lnkd.in/grvNSxxA
