I had a great time attending GirlCon in Chicago this weekend! It was so inspiring hearing women in tech share their journeys and networking with other aspiring girls in tech! My team and I also had the amazing opportunity to pitch an app idea that used AI to combat one of the fastest growing problems facing humanity, antimicrobial resistance. It was truly a remarkable experience to be alongside three exceptional women - Karen Horting, CAE, Alice Zhao, and Anne Otieno - in a panel discussion at #GirlCon2024! Our shared passion for empowering women in technology brought us together in driving positive change. A special shout out to Morgan Lin and Emma Lopez from the GirlCon team for their outstanding facilitation and for creating such a welcoming space for meaningful dialogue. Yesterday, alongside Ava Cammarata, I had the privilege to present at GirlCon 2024, an international tech conference dedicated to empowering the next generation of leaders. Representing Encode Justice NY, I engaged in a thought-provoking discussion on AI ethics. The enthusiasm and insightful questions from the young audience were awesome!??? Here are a few questions that came up??: ??1. How can AI be more just? This is a broad question as a lot goes on behind the scenes to develop AI, and a lot happens on the user side, with customers interacting with the AI. At EJNY, one of our main focuses is minimizing bias against marginalized groups. With this mission in mind, I believe that ensuring datasets are diverse and representative, and having diverse teams work on these projects can go a long way.?? ??2. How can we start thinking more about AI's risks? Be critical! We often assume tech is all-knowing and powerful, which couldn't be further from the truth. Technology is only as good as the humans and companies behind it. Be critical of the results you get with it, question how it reached its conclusions, and consider its applications in different use cases; don't just take it at face value.???? ??3. How can we learn more about tech ethics? Stay informed through news, social media, business leaders, podcasts, books, etc.. AI developments are rapidly evolving and widely discussed. Engage with diverse perspectives to shape informed opinions.?? ??Thank you to GirlCon and Encode Justice NY for this incredible opportunity to connect with future AI leaders. Today I had the opportunity to present a pitch with my team that would solve one of the problems we face in the world at Google hosted by GirlCon Chicago followed by so many sponsors. Out of 17 teams, we were picked as the top 4 teams to present our idea to our judges. I got to hear from so many panelist and they did such amazing jobs presenting. I made new friends and more networks along the way. This was such an amazing experience. I would definitely come back next year Thank you GirlCon and Google for hosting such a memorable experience.

Today was the culmination of months and months of hard work from the GirlCon team! We held our 7th annual GirlCon Chicago conference in the Chicago Google Headquarters, with so many inspiring attendees and speakers. I am so honored to be a part of the CORE team that helped to put this all together, as well as the Logistics team that helped outreach to all of our amazing keynotes, session leaders, and panelists! Moreover, this conference would not have been possible without our volunteers, parents, board members, and Google staff! For everyone who attended, thank you. Today I attended my first professional event with my daughter Bhargavi Vaidya!
