To inspire others to have school spirit and show that anyone can make art, Hazel led a team to redo the school's art room demo table while providing basic art skills to children through presentations and videos. Congratulations on your #GoldAward and becoming a Gold Award Girl Scout, Hazel!

关于我们
Each Girl Scout experiences her own exciting, life-changing opportunities through our leadership programming. From a nature walk that leads to a career in environmental science to the sale of her first box of Girl Scout Cookies that begins a desire to own her own business, Girl Scouts introduces her to new experiences and new friends while making lasting memories. Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania provides nearly 20,000 girls from 27 counties and many different backgrounds and beliefs with the resources to become tomorrow’s leaders. This is made possible by the dedication of more than 10,000 adult members, 100 full-time staff, 20 board members, and countless supporters, all believing in the power of girls.

While horseback riding last year, Girl Scouts of Cambria County Troop 16336 learned that some of the horses were adopted and removed from bad situations, which pulled on the girls' heartstrings. Because of this, they decided to pursue their Bronze Award by helping animals in their community. ???? They educated themselves about animals in need by visiting the Oglebay Good Zoo and the International Conservation Center. They held a pet supply donation collection for a local animal shelter, Four Footed Friends, and educated others about ways they can help local shelter pets as well as endangered animals.

To increase awareness about natural disasters without raising fear, Emily taught eighth-grade students about the importance of understanding natural disasters, how to respond to them, and the impact they have on the environment, human population, and wildlife. She created detailed lesson plans that are available to the eighth-grade teachers for future use. Congratulations on your #GoldAward and becoming a Gold Award Girl Scout, Emily!

"As a working dad, my time is limited, so getting that quality time [with my daughter] was very important to me and is a bonus to joining Girl Scouts." - Volunteer Jeffery Ross https://lnkd.in/gJQNWs-D

Westmoreland County Troop 28024 recently completed a service project in collaboration with the North Huntington Police Department. ?? They previously toured the police station as part of their Respect Authority petal and became aware of the need for allocated parking spaces for a public safe exchange zone in their 24/7 video surveillance lot. They received donations for everything needed for this project—paint and supplies from DRS Disaster Restoration Service, signs from Carl’s Signs, and the NHT road crew made the stencil and placed the post. Troop Leader Crystal Gurall says the girls were excited to do something that would positively impact the community. ??

Pittsburgh Troop 51405 discovered that many families of low-income areas have very few books in their home, so they partnered with Reach out and Read. They donated 1500 books and a new bookshelf to a local health center in Pittsburgh's North Side, allowing children to take home a free book when they visit. ????
