Every girl who wants to be a Girl Scout should have the opportunity to learn, grow, and find her voice. And it’s more important than ever. Generous philanthropists give millions of dollars to various causes, and the truth is, most of us will never be able to give at that level. But we ALL can make an impact in some way. Because of you, GSNNJ can provide financial assistance for: - Girl Scout membership fees - Uniform supplies - Program fees - Summer day camp Thank you for giving girls the chance to be part of a sisterhood that celebrates who they are and who they want to be. When you invest in girls, you change the world, and we are grateful for YOU! To make a donation, visit: www.gsnnj.org/Donate #NationalPhilanthropyDay #InvestinGirls #ChangetheWorld

Building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
关于我们
While some people still think of us as just cookies, badges, campfires, and friendship bracelets, Girl Scouts are so much more. Girl Scouts are groundbreakers, big thinkers, and role models. Girl Scouts design robots, start garage bands, and improve their communities—and yes, they sell the best cookies on the planet. When she's a Girl Scout, she’s also a G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)?. G: Go-getter – She’s bold, honest, and determined to succeed. Goal oriented and ambitious, she’s also a life-long learner who believes no challenge is too difficult! I: Innovator – Thinking outside the box is her specialty, so she’s always looking for a creative way to take action. She definitely knows how to get things done. R: Risk-taker – Courageous and strong, she’s keen to try new things and to embrace the unfamiliar. She’s ready to step up and break the mold if that’s what it takes. L: Leader – She’s confident, responsible, and committed to changing the world for the better—and she’s happiest when others join her in taking the lead! These are the traits that define girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. This is the Girl Scout DNA. We're 2.6 million strong—1.8 million girls and 800,000 adults who believe in the power of every G.I.R.L. to change the world. We’re the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.

Thank you, Emerson, for your generous support in making this program happen for our Girl Scouts and for helping us build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who will make the world a better place.
As part of Emerson’s endeavor to build a more equitable future, Emerson’s charitable strategy focuses on programs on the developmental & educational experience of children with a special emphasis on under-resourced populations. Recently we were able to achieve this and share our joy of STEM by partnering with Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. Emerson hosted a STEM Hispanic Heritage Night where girls participated in making slime, learning how electricity works and exploring Latin cultures. It truly was an 'electric’ evening – thanks to all who attended! #STEM #Innovation #Diversity #GirlScouts

Thank you to the League of Women Voters of Morris Area, New Jersey, and to Assemblywoman Aura Kenny Dunn, Councilwoman Judy Hernandez, and Morris County Clerk Ann Grossi, Esq., for inspiring our Girl Scouts at our Voter Girl program on Oct. 19, 2024 at Jockey Hollow Camp. It was a fun and informative day and a great way for participants to learn such an important life skill, especially during a presidential election year. They explored civic engagement, the history of the 19th Amendment, and the significance of the voting process.

At the heart of our mission and organization are our Girl Scout Leaders, who we can never thank enough. In their honor, we held our first ever GSNNJ Council-Con: Volunteer Engagement Day, on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, at Lake Rickabear Camp in Kinnelon. We had so much fun celebrating our Girl Scout spirit together and connecting with volunteers who share a passion for Girl Scouting. Attendees were able to try meditation on the beach, participate in Zumba, ride the zipline, win door prizes, make S’mores, and explore our beautiful camp property. In addition, they heard from a special guest, Jeanie Winstrom, whose mother Margaret Wend (a past Board Chair) was instrumental in the purchase and establishment of the Lake Rickabear campgrounds back in 1979. It was an incredibly fun and informative day!?

Thank you to all who attended our Girl Scout Hispanic Heritage Night at the American Legion in Dover. Attendees learned about Girl Scout traditions, made slime, discovered how electricity works, and explored the cultures of Latin countries. This special event, and the subsequent STEM Activity Series that will run in Dover throughout October, are made possible by Emerson. In attendance and facilitating were Jennifer Ortega-Salazar and Smita Patel of Emerson. We are so grateful for their support!

Monarch butterflies migrate to New Jersey each summer and fall, and now October 2024 is officially Monarch Butterflies Month thanks to Governor Murphy’s new proclamation. The Monarch Butterflies Month proclamation is the first issued by a U.S. state. GSNNJ Gold Award Girl Scout Elizabeth of Mountain Lakes researched and submitted her proclamation request to Governor Murphy earlier this year as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award. Her Gold Award take action project focuses on protecting native wildlife, including pollinators like the Monarch that rely on New Jersey pollinator gardens. https://lnkd.in/eDne7eAi

As part of her Girl Scout Gold Award Project, GSNNJ Girl Scout Sofia presented "Small Business, Big Difference: How to Use Social Media Marketing Effectively For Your Local Business" at a recent gathering of Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce members. Sofia is working to help brick and mortar "mom and pop" businesses stay and thrive in their communities by teaching them to use tools that will help them compete with online shopping outlets. https://lnkd.in/ep7hQ3qr

Thank you, Mimi Washington Starrett Foundation, for all you do for the community and for your support of our mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ) is a youth-development organization with a mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Its girl-led initiatives are designed to help girls explore possibilities and reach their full potential through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, which includes hundreds of program activities each year in the four pillars of STEM, Outdoors, Life Skills, and Entrepreneurship. Whether it’s through building a robot, exploring the outdoors at GSNNJ’s camps, or learning tools for mental and physical wellness, Girl Scouts find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them as they become the leaders of tomorrow. GSNNJ serves more than 18,500 girls ages 5-18 in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, and northern Warren Counties.
