Last week, Administrative/Presiding Judge Annalisa S. Williams and Magistrate Lisa Bradley had the pleasure of welcoming Girl Scouts of North East Ohio Troop 91336 to our courthouse for a visit. The Scouts asked wonderful questions! Judge Williams and Magistrate Bradley explained the importance of making good decisions at a young age and how court staff members work together to keep our community safe. We enjoy working with Girl Scouts all across Summit County!

Yesterday, I had the distinct pleasure of visiting the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio’s new STEM center at Camp Ledgewood with one of my best friends and colleague Emmalisa Kennedy. We delineated some of the camp during the early stages of planning, so naturally we had to see the nearly finished project! I am so impressed by the thoughtful design, attention to green infrastructure, and the vision that brought this to fruition. The new facility will be a huge asset to our community and to future women of STEM. I am grateful for the investment made by GSNEO’s board, staff, members, and donors, congratulations - excited to follow your work into the future!

Our Troop #72028 of the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio had an incredible adventure visiting the Fire Department for a day of safety training and a behind-the-scenes tour! The girls got to explore the entire department, including the living quarters where firefighters stay during their shifts. ?? We learned so much, like: -How firefighters see through smoke ?? -The best ways to get to safety ??♀? -What happens inside an ambulance ?? -The heavy gear firefighters wear ?? -How fast their response time is ?? -The amazing jet skis and boats for water rescues ?? -And the BEST part? The girls got to use the fire hose!! ?? They had a blast and loved spending time with the brave firefighters who keep our community safe. Working on a Saturday can be fun when you’re empowering the next generation of innovators! Today, I had the privilege of helping host the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio at Swagelok’s Badge Day, where the scouts earned their "Think Like an Engineer" badge. From building duck launchers to helping Engineer Barbie fill her pool—and even designing boats to keep her afloat—these young minds tackled each challenge with creativity, collaboration, and tons of energy. A huge shoutout to Brad Harris and Bill Swan for their leadership in making this event such a success. Their dedication to inspiring the next generation of problem-solvers is truly commendable. Thank you to the Girl Scouts for letting us be part of your journey, and to my Swagelok colleagues for creating such a fun and meaningful experience. My Saturday morning looked a little different yesterday! Swagelok hosted Brownie troops from Girl Scouts of North East Ohio for their “Think Like an Engineer” badging event. It was rewarding to see these young girls making the connection between fun hands-on activities and real-world STEM processes and concepts. What made this even more special was the cross-functional collaboration within Swagelok that helped bring this event to life. From planning to execution, it was truly a team effort! As we continue to inspire the next generation of innovators, it’s important to provide STEM education to young girls in their formative years. Events like this help spark curiosity and empower them to see themselves as future Engineers, problem-solvers, and leaders. ??????
