Girl Scouts Louisiana East is excited to announce that Entergy will have the naming rights to the STEM Center at the Girl Scout DreamLab for the next five years. This $50,000 partnership shows Entergy's dedication to supporting young women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). "We are so thankful for Entergy's generous support,” said Chief Executive Officer Dr. Rebecca Pennington. “The naming rights to our STEM Center mean more than just funding; they show our shared commitment to the future. Together, we are opening doors for girls to explore, innovate and lead in STEM fields. This partnership will inspire Girl Scouts to follow their dreams and develop the skills to become future STEM leaders." The Girl Scout DreamLab STEM Center will offer resources and programs to engage and educate Girl Scouts in various STEM areas. With Entergy's help, the center will continue to provide hands-on learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and a love for STEM.

It may be Monday, but we can't stop thinking about the amazing weekend with our volunteers at our annual Volunteer Kickoff! We are focused on three components for the Girl Scout Year: Unite, Grow and Thrive. We want to extend a special thank you to our Volunteer Kickoff Task Force who have diligently worked to craft sessions for all volunteers, whether they are seasoned or brand new. Their tireless dedication is what makes our Movement possible, and we are already looking forward to planning next year's event. We also want to send another thank you to our Board members who participated in Girl Scout University with our CEO Dr. Rebecca Pennington. Your dedication this group of Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts is invaluable, and we look forward to what they accomplish because of your work with them.

Last night, we held a Camp Covington Kick Off event for our Capital Campaign, hosted by Camp Covington Chair, Dr. Allison Augustus-Wallace; Camp Covington Vice Chairs, Betsy Stoner and Judy Nesser; and Leave No Girl Inside Campaign Chair, Guy Recotta, Jr. During this event, attendees learned about our major plans for Camp Covington to better provide the Outdoor pillar of Girl Scouting to a new generation. We are excited for the momentum already occurring for our Capital Campaign to enhance both of our camp properties, and we are thrilled for the generous support we have already received.

As we kicked off Volunteer Appreciation Month, we held our annual Recognition of Excellence event to celebrate our valuable and amazing volunteers who further the mission of Girl Scouting for our girls. Those recognized last night include: Debbie Sommers, Outstanding Religious Leader; Kim Bourgeois and Donna Hunter, Volunteers of Excellence; Renee Girod and Shanel LeBlanc, Appreciation Pin recipients. We also celebrated several volunteers who have a combined 145 years of service! Those include: Kim Bourgeois, 20 years; Tanya Palazzalo, 20 years; Nancy Hicks, 30 years; Aline Jacobs, 35 years; and Gloria St. Pierre, 40 years. We can never thank our volunteers enough for all they do for our Girl Scouts, and we will continue to celebrate them not only this month but every month as we continue to expand our Movement in southeast Louisiana.
