"Keep showing up, even when it's hard." We are so lucky to have you, Tayuanee Dewberry, MA, Ed.S, LCMHC, NCC!
Often God sends a ray of sunshine through the clouds of life. Last Thursday, rain and wind from Hurricane Helene caused flooding in my home. As well, I was without electricity for 5+ days (no complaints, as it could have been worse). It did, however, create challenges for what was already set to be a hectic work week of long days with evening meetings. Wednesday, in my exhaustion, I got up from my desk for a break. As I walked to the window, I saw the most beautiful little girl in her new daisy uniform taking pictures in front of the council sign. I decided to walk out and say hello. Her joy in sharing how much she was looking forward to her very first troop meeting on Monday warmed my heart. I handed her the very first of my new batch of patches and we said our goodbyes. As I walked away I heard, "Do you know who we were just talking to?" I guess the patch gave it away! ?? Shortly after, our store manager summoned me for a pic, as the little girl and her mom had returned to the store to have the patch put on her vest immediately. The moral of the story: Representation matters! I was reminded of why I do this work and why it's important to keep showing up, even when it's hard. ?????? #GirlScoutsStrong #servantleadership #RepresentationMatters #keepshowingup Girl Scouts, Hornets' Nest Council
