On Saturday, November 9th, the Girl Scouts, Hornets' Nest Council Program Department hosted the 3rd Annual SheBiz Entrepreneurship Pitch Contest. SheBiz is a six-week entrepreneurial program designed for girls in grades 4-12, providing them with the opportunity to develop their own business or service project ideas. Throughout the program, participants receive guidance from industry experts in areas such as finance, marketing, and operations, helping them refine their business plans and gain a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship. SheBiz is open to both registered and non-registered Girl Scouts at no cost. A pre-finale event was held to narrow the competition down to five pitch presentations, and the top three pitch winners were awarded seed money ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 to support the launch of their business ideas. ?? Please join us in congratulating our finalists! ?? 1st place - $2,000 Cadette Girl Scout, Isabella Hartford / Business: In HER Hands ?? 2nd place - $1,500 Maisie Smith / Business: Twist Off ?? 3rd place - $1,000 Junior Girl Scout Marley Whittaker / Business: Heartfelt Lipgloss We are incredibly proud of all of the participants and their hard work throughout the program. These young entrepreneurs are shaping the future, and we can't wait to see where their ideas take them! Way to go, girls!

We are so proud of these entrepreneurs! SheBiz is a fun and engaging program that allows Girl Scouts to have an introduction to?social entrepreneurship. Girls are able to work in teams of two to five members to develop their own business idea. These teams then had the opportunity to present their pitch to a panel of judges in a “Shark Tank” style setting to showcase their efforts. The top five teams will receive awesome awards and prizes.
What a way to spend my Saturday. Yesterday I had the opportunity to listen to our Girl Scouts, Hornets' Nest Council young entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas in the SheBiz Entrepreneurship Program pre-finale. They are brilliant and such an inspiration. You should join us next Saturday, November 9th at 10am for the finale. Sonesta Hotel (Piedmont Ballroom) 5700 Westpark Dr, Charlotte, NC 28217

"Keep showing up, even when it's hard." We are so lucky to have you, Tayuanee Dewberry, MA, Ed.S, LCMHC, NCC!
Often God sends a ray of sunshine through the clouds of life. Last Thursday, rain and wind from Hurricane Helene caused flooding in my home. As well, I was without electricity for 5+ days (no complaints, as it could have been worse). It did, however, create challenges for what was already set to be a hectic work week of long days with evening meetings. Wednesday, in my exhaustion, I got up from my desk for a break. As I walked to the window, I saw the most beautiful little girl in her new daisy uniform taking pictures in front of the council sign. I decided to walk out and say hello. Her joy in sharing how much she was looking forward to her very first troop meeting on Monday warmed my heart. I handed her the very first of my new batch of patches and we said our goodbyes. As I walked away I heard, "Do you know who we were just talking to?" I guess the patch gave it away! ?? Shortly after, our store manager summoned me for a pic, as the little girl and her mom had returned to the store to have the patch put on her vest immediately. The moral of the story: Representation matters! I was reminded of why I do this work and why it's important to keep showing up, even when it's hard. ?????? #GirlScoutsStrong #servantleadership #RepresentationMatters #keepshowingup Girl Scouts, Hornets' Nest Council

Thank you for visiting, Sara Coats, CUDE!
What a wonderful Wednesday touring our beautiful Dale Earnhardt Environmental Leadership Campus at Oak Springs with Sara Coats, CUDE. We are so excited to explore all the possibilities of this budding partnership between Girl Scouts, Hornets' Nest Council and Cooperative Council of NC! Of course, Yolanda and I utilize our girl-given camp names (Hollywood & Executive Muscle) whenever we're on our resident camp property. ???????????? #GirlScouts #Partnership #EmpowerCoops #EmpowerCommunities #EmpowerGirls #CoopCamp #WorkforceDevelopment
