On Saturday, Nov. 16, we had an amazing day at the Believe In Girls (B.I.G.) Event, filled with learning and fun through the four pillars of Girl Scouting. From zip lining to hands-on skills like installing doorknobs in our new Girl Scout Mobile Building Space, we created unforgettable memories! Cooking up kindness: Amanda’s recipe for community change! ?????? For her #gsGoldAward project, Amanda created a recipe book with low-cost ingredients and foods that are commonly donated to food banks to help patrons cook higher-quality meals! She also distributed printed and online copies to multiple food banks throughout Phoenix. Amanda received direct staff feedback on her project's effectiveness, and to test that her recipes were simple, easy, and delicious, Amanda hosted a cooking event and taste test with her team to prepare the meals themselves. As a result of her project, Amanda has established relationships with local food banks in her area and donates annually to provide support. Join us in empowering the next generation of female entrepreneurs by mentoring Girl Scouts (grades 4-12) during the 2025 Girl Scout Cookie season. We’re thrilled to introduce our inaugural Empowering Girl Scout Entrepreneurs Event in partnership with OneAZ Credit Union on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 9 a.m. to noon their corporate office. As a mentor, you will guide Girl Scouts in the following interactive experiences: ?? Boardroom Pitch: Provide invaluable feedback as Girl Scouts present their cookie pitches in a professional setting, helping them refine their messaging and presentation skills. ?? Elevator Pitch: Experience the thrill of live pitches! Join the girls in an elevator and help them learn to communicate effectively in a limited time—your immediate feedback will be priceless. ?? Studio Experience: Encourage the girls as they capture headshots and record storytelling videos about their cookie journey, helping them build their personal brand. Happy National STEM Day to our Girl Scouts who engineer and innovate their future! Today, we’re excited to celebrate two amazing robotics teams created by our very own Girl Scouts: The Techalongs and Underwater Starfish! Led by dedicated Girl Scout volunteers, these teams inspire girls to explore their STEM interests—whether they continue in robotics or pursue other passions. After seeing how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted literacy rates and learning experiences for children, Jenny created Reading Buddies, a summer program for kindergarten and third grade students to participate in reading and writing activities alongside “teen buddies”. With 55 teen volunteers, Jenny served children in the Scottsdale Library System and Mustang and Civics Center, sharing her love for reading with everyone who participated.
