Kudos! to Leslie Feinzaig, founder of the Female Founders Alliance for her leadership in launching the "VCs for Kamala" pledge. GingerBread Capital is proud to be among the 850+ signatories of the pledge, supporting Vice President Kamala Harris for President. Last week, Feinzaig published an op-ed in Fortune in which she explains her rationale for starting the initiative in early August backing Harris' campaign, after "feeling frustrated that a few loud voices in tech were creating the impression that our whole industry had gone MAGA," she writes. You can read her op-ed here: https://lnkd.in/g4Rznm_v We share Feinzaig's commitment in supporting the candidate who will best protect women's reproductive freedoms, preserve and expand entrepreneurial opportunity and small business ownership, promote policies that grow our economy, and be a President for all Americans. That candidate is Vice President Kamala Harris. Learn more about the VCs for Kamala pledge: https://lnkd.in/eVWPRirW #womenforHarris #womensupportingwomen #womeninVC #VCsforKamala

KUDOS! To GBC portfolio company, Aclima, Inc. for being selected by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to measure air quality and pollutants along public roads throughout the state. The $27 million contract awarded to Aclima will enable the company and its partners to provide detailed data about the sources and levels of harmful greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollutants, especially in disadvantaged communities where environmental, economic, and health inequities are endemic. The data will allow the state and public-private partnerships to enact new policies and programs to improve air quality for all Californians. "As a native Californian directly impacted by air pollution, this initiative is as personal as it is profound," stated Aclima co-founder and CEO Davida Herzl. Today, we are proud to announce Aclima's historic partnership with our home state of California! https://lnkd.in/gAV8He5M California Air Resources Board(CARB) has selected Aclima to co-create a program with the state’s impacted communities to measure air quality, greenhouse gases and toxics to help drive real, systemic change. Our work relies on leadership like we’ve seen from both the California legislature and from Governor Gavin Newsom who together model the adoption of innovative, private/public approaches to solving big problems. We are especially proud of what this means for job creation throughout the state and look forward to welcoming new teammates in our headquarters and in the field!? #Californians, help create the future with us by signing up for the public meeting on September 17!: https://lnkd.in/gAV8He5M? #climateaction #community #cleanair

GingerBread Capital Founder/CEO Linnea Roberts was in Los Angeles recently to give the keynote speech at the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce about how women can build their wealth through investing, entrepreneurship and supporting other women. The event, held on June 18th, was part of the Chamber’s Women in Leadership series that brought together a diverse audience of women professionals and entrepreneurs. Linnea followed her remarks with an insightful, candid panel discussion with some of our favorite experts in finance and venture capital: Sallie Krawcheck, Founder/CEO of Ellevest (a GBC portfolio co.) and Jesse Draper, Managing Partner of Halogen Ventures. Moderated by GBC Partner Katherine Rice, the discussion covered how women can become better investors—in themselves, in their careers and businesses, and in the market. The panel is part of GingerBread Capital's “Know Your Worth Know Your Wealth” initiative to accelerate and expand the ecosystem of women founders and funders. Check out our blog for excerpts of Linnea's remarks and a downloadable list of great resources for kickstarting your own journey in building your personal wealth. https://lnkd.in/gjEfcE6z #womeninvestors #womeninvestinginwomen #investinwomen #womeninVC #womenfounders

Last week GingerBread Capital's investment team attended The Care Summit, held on May 30 in San Francisco. The day-long Summit brought together visionary founders and investors who are driving innovation and collaboration in the $648 billion care economy. The invite-only event included networking and inspiring and insightful panel discussions from leading experts on topics such as how AI and public policy will shape the future of caregiving; leveraging technology to improve life and care for older adults and families; and investment opportunities in longevity, health, and well-being. The event kicked off with a keynote fireside chat with First Partner of California Jennifer Siebel Newsom and veteran health journalist Anna Nordberg about the enormous economic impact of care today and on future generations. They were introduced to the stage by GingerBread Capital’s own Katherine Rice, who provided opening remarks. Among the panelists and speakers were GBC portfolio company founders Helen Adeosun of CareAcademy, Joanna Strober of Midi Health, Julia Cohen Sebastien of Grayce and Lynn Perkins of UrbanSitter, along with fund partners Jesse Draper of Halogen Ventures and Monique Woodard of Cake Ventures. The event, which was sponsored by Pivotal Ventures and JPMorgan Chase & Co. , was co-produced by GingerBread Capital along with Magnify Ventures, Cake Ventures, The Holding Co., Ulu Ventures, Banc of California, Cooley LLP and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP.
