  • Meet Edweena Gilmore, Vice President of Administration & Co-Founder of Gilmore Construction. With a lifetime of experience and a passion for leadership, she’s been a driving force in shaping both the company and the industry. ??♀? What inspired her to pursue a career in construction? “My father, Albert Bryant, Jr., comes from a generation that built rather than purchased items, from furniture to home additions and remodeling. Also, that generation never threw anything out. He would often take me with him from a young age while he worked on various projects (building items, landscaping, home improvements (putting up drywall, and how to create smooth finishes and then the painting)). He encouraged my participation. I learned how to create a project concept on paper (drawing a picture), take measurements (measure twice, cut once, check the math), and select the necessary materials. He would outline the project plan on paper, creating the materials list, and together, we shop for supplies at HM Woods (my favorite part). Once at home, he would show me methods of performing basic carpentry, the layout of the materials, the steps involved (I loved the circular saw but hated the plainer used to level surfaces), and the timeline needed to complete the project. The finishing touches were particularly important and could take days, often requiring multiple applications of endless smoothing, staining, and polishing. Each time we completed a project, I felt great pride, especially when friends and family admired the finished work and expressed a desire to have something similar for themselves. I feel that same pride in Gilmore Construction's work, the talented team we are fortunate to have, and the incredible reputation the team has built for the company. I am truly blessed to have met and married Jake Gilmore, who possesses the same qualities as my father and the same philosophy of “it’s quality in our work, that beats the competition”. The Gilmore team delivers beautiful projects that are among the best in the industry and that Albert Bryant, Jr. would be proud of. I am all in having women create beauty through construction.” ?? Her advice to women looking to enter the construction industry? “Have the audacity to be the leader, be an executive, and shine!” Edweena’s leadership and vision continue to inspire the next generation of women in construction. We’re proud to celebrate her and the impact she’s made! #WomenInConstruction #WICWeek #BuildingTheFuture #BreakingBarriers #LeadershipInConstruction

  • ??? Celebrating the Strong, Skilled, and Resilient Women of Gilmore Construction! ??? As we close out Women In Construction Week, we want to take a moment to recognize the powerhouse women who make up our team. ????????♀?????♀? From the field to the office, their dedication, expertise, and leadership continue to push boundaries and redefine what it means to be a woman in construction. The industry hasn’t always made space for women, but we’re here to change that. Women in construction still face challenges—from breaking into leadership roles to overcoming biases in a historically male-dominated field. At Gilmore Construction, we don’t just acknowledge these adversities—we advocate, support, and create opportunities for women to thrive. We’re proud to say that 33% of our leadership and executive team are women—each from diverse backgrounds, bringing unique perspectives that make us stronger. Representation matters, and we’re committed to building a future where women in construction don’t just exist—they lead, innovate, and excel. To every woman pushing boundaries in this industry: you are seen, you are valued, and you are changing the game. Keep building, keep leading, and keep breaking barriers! ?? #BreakingBarriers #GilmoreGirls #WomenInLeadership #WomenInConstruction

We’re proud to recognize Star Elizondo, a dedicated Estimator who brings passion and precision to every project. ??♀? What inspired her to pursue a career in construction? “My love for construction started in childhood when my dad took me to my first ground-up project—a house. As he explained what had just been completed and what was coming next, I was mesmerized by the process. I visited the site every time a new phase was finished, watching the project take shape. Seeing how much work and detail went into building left a lasting impression on me.” ?? Her advice to women looking to enter construction? “No one is perfect; you must have confidence even if you are asking for assistance. This is a different type of work environment but always stand your ground and they will only see you for your work. Always be ready for whatever turn you have to take. Don't downplay your successes whether it's leading a project, mastering a new skill, or overcoming obstacles, celebrate your accomplishments . They matter. ” Estrella’s journey is a testament to passion, perseverance, and making a mark in a male-dominated industry. We’re proud to have her on our team, paving the way for future generations of women in construction! #WomenInConstruction #WICWeek #BuildingTheFuture #BreakingBarriers #LeadershipInConstruction

  • ?? Celebrating Women in Construction Week! ?? Today, we’re spotlighting Liz Haynes, our incredible Project Accountant! ??♀? What inspired her to pursue a career in construction? “My career in construction wasn’t 100% intentional. I had been doing accounting in real estate and restoration before joining Gilmore. I applied for this job to do accounting, not realizing how different construction accounting was from what I had been doing for so many years. It’s been an exciting and rewarding challenge!” ?? How is it working in a male-dominated field? “I actually enjoy working in a male-dominated field because it’s so different from my previous jobs. Accounting roles are often female-dominated, so construction has been a welcome change in the diversity of my coworkers.” Liz’s journey shows that sometimes the best careers are the ones we didn’t plan for! Her expertise and dedication make a huge impact at Gilmore, and we’re so grateful for her leadership. #WomenInConstruction #WICWeek #BuildingTheFuture #GilmoreLeaders #BreakingBarriers

Her advice to women looking to enter construction? “If I could go back and talk to my younger self, I would say: 1.) There is nothing to be afraid of, and 2.) Mute the noise and focus on your goals.” Grisel’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and passion in a traditionally male-dominated industry. We are so grateful for her leadership and the example she sets for future generations of women in construction! #WomenInConstruction #WICWeek #BuildingTheFuture #GilmoreLeaders #BreakingBarriers
