Numbers are not on a salesperson's side when it comes to prospecting. According to HubSpot, call back rates are less than 1% and only 24% of sales emails are opened. How do salespeople rise above the noise when trying to connect with buyers? The first step is to understand what the customer is buying vs. what you are selling. Too often, hotel salespeople speak in hotel lingo: "rates, dates and space" vs. how their services translate into value for the customer. Before hitting send on that next prospecting email, email it to yourself and read it from your mobile phone - 60% of emails are read from mobile phones. Then ask yourself whether this is an email you would reply to.

Falling behind early can put teams on the defensive, prompting owners and operators to make tough decisions to safeguard profits. To ensure success in Q1, sales teams can implement the following strategies: *Activate the LNRs/KNRs negotiated in the previous quarter. *Conduct parking lot shops within the competitive set to redirect project business. *Requalify groups from the previous year that have not yet rebooked. *Organize a sales blitz targeting local companies to increase brand recognition. *Dedicate time to front desk staff training on lead generation. *Engage with guests in the breakfast room to build rapport.
