This week, the Gilbert Public Safety Training Facility hosted the two-day Arizona Law Enforcement Canine Association High-Risk Deployment Training. Nearly 40 K9 teams from police agencies across Arizona came out to participate in various scenario-based trainings that included: ?? Open-area and building searches ?? Surround and call-out apprehensions ?? Emergency K9 medical training and treatment ?? Joint Grappler and K9 deployment Thanks to all the teams who came out for this important training opportunity!

This week marked the beginning of Class 8 at the Gilbert Police Regional Academy. ???? The class which is made up of recruits from eight law enforcement agencies, including Gilbert, will spend the next 22 weeks preparing to become certified police officers. Gilbert PD and Gilbert Fire and Rescue proudly hosted the Spring 2025 Aspire Academy this past weekend! ???? 29 high-school-aged girls spent four days learning all about police and fire careers from women in the professions. Activities included climbing a ladder truck, practicing mock traffic stops, CPR training, and demos from SWAT and K9s. Not only did the class build lasting friendships, but they were empowered to overcome challenges and gain valuable skills as our future leaders. Commander Booker joins Gilbert PD with over 32 years of previous law enforcement experience with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, retiring as a Deputy Chief in 2023. Commander Booker will oversee the Gilbert Police Department’s Central Patrol Division covering all of Gilbert north of Ray Road. It's official! ?? Construction is officially underway for the Gilbert Advocacy Center, a transformative facility that will provide vital, compassionate services for crime victims in our community. Once completed, this facility will include: ?? Spaces for victim advocates to provide services ?? Forensic interview rooms for police investigations ?? Private counseling and group therapy rooms ?? A comfortable and respectful environment for those in need Currently, the Gilbert Police Department uses advocacy centers and care facilities in adjacent municipalities for various victim services.
