NH&RA Annual Meeting Highlights! Last week, Bobvala Tengen, PMP Tengen, our Senior Development Manager, had the honor of joining the "Maximizing Bond Volume Cap Usage" panel as a guest speaker. Bobvala, along with Brad Edgar, Lauren Marcus, Esq., Jeanne Marie Coronado, and C. Marisa Rodriguez, shared valuable insights on best practices, innovative approaches, and policy considerations. We appreciate the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association team for hosting such an insightful event!

Exciting developments are underway at The Peninsula in the Bronx! Our team recently toured the site and witnessed the incredible progress firsthand. This 5-building, 3-phase project is transforming the former Spofford Juvenile Detention Center into a vibrant 5-acre campus featuring 100% affordable housing. With Phase I completed in 2022, Phase II is now in full swing, set to deliver approximately 740 units of affordable housing, 52,000 square feet of public open space, and 53,500 square feet of community facilities by 2026 with phase III anticipated to be completed in 2028. Gilbane alongside the University of South Carolina (USC), and key project partners, is thrilled to announce the groundbreaking of the University of South Carolina's new School of Medicine Columbia! This cutting-edge, 300,000+square-foot facility is set to redefine the future of healthcare education and research and will feature cutting-edge classrooms, medical simulation spaces, a health sciences library, interdisciplinary research labs, and collaborative learning environments. “Gilbane is honored to partner with the University of South Carolina in delivering this transformative project, and excited that its construction phase has commenced as scheduled,” said John Keegan, Senior Vice President, Gilbane Development Company. “USC’s new Health Sciences Campus, a dynamic addition to the City of Columbia’s BullStreet District, represents a bold step forward in redefining healthcare education and research, supporting USC’s mission while meeting the needs of the state and local communities.?We’re grateful for the robust stakeholder input that has been instrumental in helping inform the planning and design of this remarkable project, setting the stage for exceptional outcomes.” Expected to be completed in August 2027, this project is being developed, designed, and constructed by a collaborative team led by Gilbane Development Company, together with key Columbia-based partners, BOUDREAUX and minority-owned business Brownstone.
