Earlier this year,?Brad Torchia?photographed acclaimed artist Pedro Reyes—whose exhibition “Pedro Reyes: Amnesia Atómica” is on view at Museo Anahuacalli in Mexico City—at his home and studio in CDMX. Designed by Reyes and his wife, fashion designer Carla Fernández, the house is a Brutalist-inspired concrete feat?of?architecture with smooth contours, matte textures, and skylights that harness the sun. ? Marcus Smith?shoots the next gen?of?sports icons?Anthony Edwards?and?Justin Jefferson?for the cover?of?ESPN??? “When I was asked to do this shoot, I instantly went into storytelling mode, thinking about how I could connect the past generation to a future generation,” explains Marcus. “I referenced the 1998 film ‘Belly,’ by hip-hop’s most groundbreaking director, Hype Williams. In the iconic intro, the film’s stars, Nas and DMX, enter a club under blacklight that transforms their skin into the most beautiful shade?of?blue. Eyes glowing, they looked like wolves stalking their prey. At the same time, in Minnesota, there were two guys making their own iconic intros in their respective sports: Kevin Garnett?of?the Minnesota Timberwolves and Randy Moss?of?the Minnesota Vikings. They posed for the cover?of?Sport magazine wearing each other’s jerseys. What the Keck? Once upon a time photographers?Jonpaul Douglass?and?Cody Cloud?met a friendly production coordinator named Christian Keck. Hitting it off, the three decided to collaborate on a photo project with Christian as the star. This being a freestyle endeavor, they did what came naturally: Rent armloads of outfits from a major motion picture studio, scout a few locations, and let the shape-shifting begin ??
