— Military History Monday — Think your MOS was rough? Unless you spent your days mopping up blood, guts, and amputated limbs on a rocking ship in the 1700s, you probably can’t compete. The loblolly boy was the US Navy’s lowest-ranked medical assistant—feeding wounded sailors, scrubbing surgical tools, and holding down Marines while the doc sawed off limbs (without anesthesia, of course). On the bright side, the job eventually evolved into the hospital corpsman role.
