Big thanks to Mumbrella for supporting the brand campaign launch in October The purpose and goal is 'Shining light into the darkness of stereotypes & age discrimination' I’ve been a long time media voice to call out age discrimination shake people, recruiters and employers awake to stop the nonsense of ageism and illogical stereotyping. Coming from decades in recruitment, job strategy and marketing I knew there had to be a better way to shake people to see that stereotyping is pure poppycock. Sue Parker wanted to create a brand and message tagline to launch an awareness campaign which would galvanise a movement. And from there See The Person Not The Stereotype has started to really fly to knock the perceptions of what men and women over 50 feel, act and look like. Over the coming months there is lots more to come. ?? Next campaign is for Men 50+ to join in and share A big thanks to all the Australian women who shared their ages and photos and all the men and women of all ages who supported the original This is... Think you know how men & women 50+ feel, look & act? Well think again It's time to smash the illogical & harmful stereotypes that impact business, recruitment & workplaces About the 'See the person not the stereotype' campaign Sue Parker, profile marketer, job search and communication strategist has been a long time champion in media and her business to break down age discrimination, stereotypes and ageist attitudes. Frustrated that businesses and marketers keep illogical and unfounded age stereotypes alive, she decided it was time to show not tell. Keeping your age and value hidden and minimised creates internal angst keeps limiting stereotypes alive cloaked in restrictive beliefs. The campaign has 4 main goals: 1/ Empower people over 50 to own and champion their age and value and not hide it. 2/ Break down the illogical age stereotypes employers, recruiters and media hold by showing them the reality of who people are by visual campaigns, advocacy and community and business group collaborations. 3/ Curation of image resources to reflect and dispel beliefs and biases. 4/ Support organisations and groups with guidelines to break down hiring stereotypes Contact : Sue Parker E: [email protected] M: 0416 85 779

See The Person Not The Stereotype Reveal 1st Australian campaign montages ?? For the launch of the campaign I asked women 50+ to proudly share photos, flag their age and champion their value. It was terrific the launch received great media attention and LinkedIn News Australia featured it. Then I asked men 50+ to do the same as age discrimination impacts both genders when finding work and in the workplace. Big thanks to the 100s of supporters, shares, messages and people who have courageously jumped in.?? Visual representations of the vibrancy and wide unique differences of people help dispel nonsense stereotypes. I'm on a mission of shining light into the darkness of stereotypes and age discrimination as it impacts hiring, business and workplaces The campaign will move through ongoing development, media and promotion for the remainder of the year. We have to own, champion and be proud of our age and value and not hide it. Let's go.. and get in touch if you would like to help further as individuals or organisations. ?? See The Person Not The Stereotype. It’s foolish to stereotype all witches and place them in the same pot..??? And it’s foolish to assume all people 50+ act, look and feel the same way with the same skillsets. To add some humour to LinkedIn, I couldn’t resist posting this clip from the delightful TV show #Bewitched For those who are unfamiliar, Bewitched was a terrific sitcom from the 60's & 70's about Darrin Stephens a high flying advertising executive who falls in love and marries Samantha an adorable gorgeous witch. Given the campaign I'm running, this clip is really relevant to the issue of seeing people not the stereotype and stepping out. Darrin has first-hand experience that not all witches have the same appearance and evil ways (ha) so he valiantly tries to convince his client and boss to rework the advertising campaign differently to reflect a wider view. And more so, Darrin resigns from the campaign because he wont tolerate unfair stereotyping. Very amusing but a nice example of standing for your values eh! There is no homogenous pot and stereotypes for witches or warlocks (ha) nor for men and women of different generations. Enjoy ?? Men 50+ in Australia it's your turn to jump on the See The Person Not The Stereotype??campaign. I recently launched the campaign spotlighting ?women 50+, now lets go men 50+. The media launch was a hit across numerous publications and LinkedIn News Australia ran a major feature on the launch.. The awareness campaigns goal is ‘Shining light into the darkness of stereotypes & age discrimination’ in business, recruitment and workplaces. ?? Hiding our age fuels fear, vulnerability and shame whilst also keeping stereotypes alive. Moving past age bias and prejudice needs us to embrace our age and step up and stand out with pride. It's about demonstrating that stereotypes of men and women over 50 are not homogeneous. ?? Not every person 50+ looks, acts and feels the same. So it's foolish and limiting to assume they do. Viva la difference ! The campaign movement which I started 3 weeks ago is going viral. My first call out was for women 50+ - now its men’s turn.? Then a combination initiative will follow. The movement is for both men and women, Age discrimination, damaging and illogical stereotyping impacts everyone no matter their level, work, industry or profession. ?? So men, I would love you to add your photos -( with a direct clear face shot in work or casual mode) and your age in the post. I encourage diversity and all cultures to jump in and get involved. And feel free to share anything about yourself to show the world that people 50+ are not all the same in how they look, feel and act. Creating images of ?people 50+ was inspired by USA advertising agency Grace Creative LA whose montage of celebrity and famous American women was so powerful. I wanted to create a brand and message tagline to launch an awareness campaign which would galvanise a movement. And from there See The Person Not The Stereotype has started to really fly to knock the perceptions of what men and women over 50 feel, act and look like. Over the coming months there is lots more to come. ??
