Hello Everyone! So we have officially launched our PROJECT SOLAR LAMP FOR A SCHOOL CHILD, this project aims to?#EndEnergyPoverty?for students in?#RuralCoastalCommunities?in Rivers State, Nigeria. Some rural coastal communities in Rivers State are experiencing energy poverty, which has lasted for over a decade. Students of these communities are forced to use candles, kerosene lamps etc which affects their eyes. While we hope to solve the energy problem in these rural coastal communities, our first call to action is to provide the students of these communities with solar lamps which do not require electricity to function but the sun and can aid studying, as well, reduce eye defects associated with the use of dim lights, and usher transition into Renewable forms of Energy for these coastal communities. See flier for details of project. Be the light bearer to a child. Kindly DONATE using the website link or the link below???? https://lnkd.in/dXb_BFr9 Together we can light up a community, one student at a time.???? #EndEnergyPoverty #LightACommunity #ProjectSolarLamp #energyjustice #reduceinequality #education

The Niger Delta Communities are degrading at an alarming rate. These communities have recorded numerous fire outbreaks spreading like wildfires as a result of oil spillage occurring from worn out and vandalized pipelines with zero maintenance or replacement by the International Oil Companies (IOCs) who are in operation across these communities. Youth and youth-led organizations in the Niger Delta have awaken to the pressing need to act fast inorder to secure our communities for future generations. Tomorrow, March 6th 2025 in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, deep conversations revealing facts, figures and data on the issues of oil spillage by the IOCs will be discussed. Then we will chart the next course of action to ensure the sustainable development of our Niger Delta. I can't wait to listen to our speakers Elder Celestine A. Henry Ushie Mezewo Obuzor Eedee Goneh I will be anchoring this timely program alongside Perfect Johndick and Tobechukwu Prosper Diolu Interested in joining virtually send a DM to receive the zoom link. With each passing day, the Niger Delta Climate crisis gradually feels like a forgotten course, but with recent issues arising, more than ever we need to stand up for our communities. The loss of lives and livelihoods, the displacement of families, habitat degradation, community extinction, the impact on culture and cultural heritage of communities, all of these negative impacts and many others must stop. It is time for accountability, remediation and justice. We can't continue to fold our hands and turn blind eyes to the destruction of communities, biodiversity and our shared planet. We Don't Have Time, it's time to act and defend the home that has been passed down to us by generations before us. Join us on this X (Twitter Space) conversation on 29th January as we chart the next course of meaningful action and engagement for the Niger Delta Climate Challenges ???? https://lnkd.in/dP6ZebiA IBISO IKIROMA-OWIYE (Ib-Henshaw) Perfect Johndick Paschal Epere INNOCENTMACLEAN

Our conversation brought in the many ways that we as women can see the increase in us representing ourselves in STEAM fields Latest government census figures show that women now make up 26% of the STEM workforce. Whilst this is a gradual increase, at the current rate of change we would not see equal representation in STEM until the year 2070. Our current 2024 program: STEAM for 100 young women in Africa has been carefully crafted to bridge gaps by way of interactive learning programs by Navneet Bhushan and Kwame Agyire-Tettey, PhD in order to provide guidance, frameworks and mindset pathways to elevate the way they see themselves in STE(A)M in this episode friend and Professor Navneet Bhushan hosts The Krisullis podcast with me in the response mode for a change. Many thanks for the insightful questions and direction in this episode We bring up the value of empathy and the Arts being intrinsic and how the practice of 'Care' gives us room to actively participate in solving problems with the access to STEAM technologies and having a mindset towards creation and innovation we reflect on how the practice of being organised as well as cultivating emotional regulation are important, one from the perspective of needs, goals and clarity and the other towards nurturing rich relationships : being organised and having emotional intelligence are deeply rooted in paying attention and being intentional while bringing a mission to life with others in the room what part of learning is self initiated & self paced and what part of learning comes from more formal systems of education Having more women in STEAM fields influence several benefits in the socio-economic landscape to where communities come online to participate and are impacted More women in businesses and in leadership roles enable better and richer diverse solutions in fields such as healthcare disparities, sustainable living, technology : to consumer centric decision making : all essential for culture, innovation, employee retention, brand loyalty Our program this year has been hands-on and we are currently moving in to invite certified participants to bring projects on education, youth empowerment, waste management and more - that our team of facilitators, mentors will guide them to bring to life through next year. Shoutout to our partners Crafitti Consulting Private Limited Grassroots to Global Sustainable Development Network Wema Bukembe Development Organization University of Ghana in staying the course and actively co-creating this journey with our young girls in Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda and Kenya #STEAMforWomen #Innovation

Last week I was invited by Ogechi Nwonye- Bernard Eco Cyclers Plogging Nigeria, NaijaYouthSDGs and the Enugu State Government Ministry of Environment, for the "Enugu State Local Adaptation Plan of Action Review Stakeholder's Forum". This event was powered by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany Abuja. It was an inclusive meeting that engaged diverse networks of people ranging from; Civil Society Organizations (C.S.Os), Students, Community and Indigenous People, Market Traders, People Living With Disability (P.L.W.D), Public and Private Sector, Faith Institutions to mention a few. Present at the meeting were the Commissioner of Environment- Prof. Sam Ugwu, the House of Representatives Member on Environment- Hon. Plus Ezeugwu, the Permanent Secretary, the Director of Climate Change Department Ministry of Environment- Mr. Nnamdi Arum, Rev. Amb Kenichi Simeon Mbabie. Conversations were centered on the climate change challenges plaguing the state, such as; Respiratory Problems, Erratic Weather Patterns, Spread of Vector-Borne Diseases, Loss of Biodiversity, Food Insecurity etc. This data was obtained via various survey findings conducted by Ecocyclers and the Enugu State Climate Change Department. These challenges are increasing at an alarming rate, hence the need for the Local Adaptation Plan of Action (L.A.P.A) which will help create tools & mechanisms relevant for the adaptation and resilience of the people of Enugu State. In my capacity as the Executive Director of Grassroots to Global Sustainable Development Network I spoke on the need for: ?? Community Engagement and Sensitization ?? A call line to report climate crisis and human activities that affect the climate across communities in Enugu. ?? The need for youth action to tackle the climate crisis and the relevance of building youth capacity on green skills. ?? The need for Sustainable Urban Planning Systems to guide the Real Estate Sector which is a fast growing sector in Enugu State, which can either affect or tackle some of the climate challenges in the state such as sand storms and flooding in some areas. ?? The need to imbibe the Sustainable Healthy Lifestyle of Reduce, Reuse and Recycling of Products. I commend the Governor of Enugu State H.E Barr. Dr. Peter Nduibuisi Mbah for the great job he's doing in the state. ????

Over the last 4 months we as an organization have worked together with our partners The Krisullis University of Ghana and Wema Bukembe Development Organization to launch our "100 Young Women in Africa S.T.E.A.M Training Programme". 100 young women were selected across the continent of Africa to learn skills and develop themselves in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (S.T.E.A.M). In the area of engineering, our women are learning how to engineer our environment and future for generations to come. All of these areas (S.T.E.A.M) though intricate and significant aspects of sustainability which are relevant in the race to Net Zero and the UN Agenda, are simplified to our learners in ways that can be applied during and after the training programme. It's been an amazing learning experience so far for our African Women as they have garnered the right knowledge from our incredible facilitators who are professionals in these fields and in education. The testimonials received so far have been awe-amazing and has spurred in us more passion to design a better advanced curriculum for the next cohort. A very big thank you to the curators of this programme, caroline cares Founder and Gardener The Krisullis and our Founder and Executive Director IBISO IKIROMA-OWIYE (Ib-Henshaw) To the amazing team members and community champions Paschal Epere INNOCENTMACLEAN and Adebisi who have worked tirelessly in ensuring our learners have a smooth experience using our learning platforms and Slack Container. A heart felt gratitude goes to our partners Liz Jumah (Wema), Dr. Ligia Barros and the University of Ghana for the great support in onboarding our learners and the great experience for our learners. A huge appreciation goes to our facilitators, with their wisdom and support we have gotten this far with the training programme. Navneet Bhushan Kwame Agyire-Tettey, PhD Dr. Rajaram Vasudevan What speaks to us is how these facilitators have constantly committed to the growth and development of our women in this space, showing up and pouring into this women their wealth of knowledge span over decades. Our women are excited at the opportunity and the testimonials we receive from them speaks loudly of the value we've given them for their time and resources they have invested in their own development. Testimonials will be shared in our next post but for now, you can catch the training sessions and fire side chats with our facilitators on YouTube. Yesterday's fireside chat with Dr VEENA PACHORI felt very raw, real and even amidst the moments where the silence of her most difficult struggles, what came through was a human BEing who trusted the cosmic dance through all her varied and unexpected experiences Despite some very hard personal situations and the journey of her transition into Technology Director at the Government of India's defence and research organisation her resolve, and foresight seemed to release powerful inner strength, the willingness to nurture relationships towards trust and a culture of transparency in the early 90's when the infrastructure of the world of technology was needing the frameworks and architecture to transform the way people saw and interfaced with eachother, collaborated together and worked with the capabilities that would go on to help people see things progressively This conversation was rich, deep and so timely We decided to embed the experience of mentors like Dr Veena to open up spaciousness to encourage our young women from the STEAM 100 young women in Africa ?? program to know that women in technology have overcome several systemic barriers and pushed forward with grace and elegance. And they/we can too. A huge dose of gratitude for this orchestration Navneet Bhushan thank you for facilitating this meaningful invitation for us as a team to bring Veena in. The joy, laughter and innocence were very palpable and our participants and we came away with many insightful revelations on her story, her approach to life and her resilience Please feel free to access the link from the comments #womeninstem
