This spring break, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in a collaborative initiative between the UF Career Connections Center and The Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance. Through this experience, I toured and learned more about several companies in the South Florida region and had the chance to speak with career professionals who are passionate about their work This experience provided valuable insights into what these companies expect from technical professionals and the skills they see as essential in today’s workforce. Beyond learning about industry trends, I had the chance to connect with fellow Gators, hear about their interests, and share in the diverse paths we are all taking as part of the Gator Nation. Thank you, Erin Lin, Crystal Burton, and Marquise M. McGriff, ?for sharing this incredible opportunity with the Gator Nation. I also want to extend my gratitude to all the career professionals who took the time to share their insights and experiences—it was truly invaluable! A special shoutout to Randall Deich, who was once my sixth-grade teacher and now continues to play a pivotal role in my career journey by providing opportunities like this. This past Friday, I had the privilege to embark on a Career Trek in my hometown of Fort Lauderdale with the UF Career Connections Center. As a part of the Career Trek, we were able to do a site visit at CITY Furniture where we learned more about their company culture, innovative business strategies, and commitment to community impact. Beyond the site visit, we also had the incredible opportunity to network with industry professionals from Amazon, American Express, AutoNation, and several local companies. Engaging with these professionals provided valuable career insights, allowing us to learn more about different industries, career paths, and the skills needed to thrive in today’s job market. I would like to extend a special thanks to Crystal Burton and Erin Lin for organizing the trek and the The Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance for making it possible. Your efforts in connecting students with valuable career opportunities are truly appreciated! Looking forward to applying these insights to my own professional journey and staying connected with the amazing professionals I met along the way!
