GameFace 4:13 Training Academy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that focuses on mentoring youth physically, mentally, and spiritually through the game of basketball. Our name is derived from our three pillars of training and conveys the confidence we wish to instill in our athletes. GameFace is a mentality and an attitude one carries. It denotes a sense of readiness and determination to take on life’s challenges. 4:13 represents the scripture of Philippians 4:13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Our mission is to train young men and women on a holistic level in the most powerful way possible to have a lasting impact on the lives of youth. Our program goes beyond the lines of the basketball court and teaches valuable life lessons. Some topics include character development, treatment of others, and moral values that are discussed between the children and their mentors. We not only want our students to succeed but to be leaders both on and off the court. We aim to educate and mentor the youth in our program to not only become better individuals but better people in society. Research conducted through surveys shows the kids are coming out of our program showing more discipline, attention to their teachers, and the ability and will to set goals.     BUILDING LEADERS?? We had the privilege to partner with GOOD NATURED AMBASSADOR PROGRAM with continental societies inc, to create a workshop that addressed the issues of youth violence and ways we can combat it. Our youth did amazing learning valuable skills and gained better understanding of what it takes to be a LEADER OFF THE COURT! They also earned official WEARABLE BLAZERS, COMMUNITY SERVICE CREDIT, AND RESUME WORTHY CREDENTIALS FOR COLLEGE AND THE JOB FORCE. Parents were able to witness their children making them proud. #mentorship #lifeskills

    A GREAT NEED?? . A great outreach opportunity has opened for Gameface. HOWEVER, because of this great opportunity, it has opened up a great NEED for our organization. Keep reading to find out more. THREE lower income apartments in the Jacksonville area need our help. These apartments and neighborhoods are located in several areas across Jacksonville.-Arlington, Downtown, and Southside- They are requesting our services in order to empower, uplift, and bring hope into their communities. We will provide their youth with basketball camps and mentorship. Our mentorship opportunities will consist of character development and life skills. We will travel to them and meet youth in their neighborhood-We also have an opportunity to provide them with tangible items and food, while providing hope and encouragement to their soul. Again these services would be operated at their apartment complex. One of the apartments has a basketball gym, the others we would bring our portable hoops. There are many youth in these neighborhoods that need positive outlets, in order to produce better outcomes for themselves and families. As a result we are in need of a WORK TRUCK THAT WILL HELP US MOVE ITEMS ACROSS THE CITY. Mainly our big items and portable hoops.     Thank you to a few JU mens team for participating in: Science of the Slam: Dunk Contest ● Introduction of the dunkers and explanation of the dunk contest rules. ● Measure vertical leaps of each dunker using the jump plate. ● Students and audience make hypotheses about who will win based on the data. ● Conduct one or two rounds of dunks. ● Measure crowd reaction to determine the winner. ● Wrap-up discussion on the math and science behind the dunks and how the students’ hypotheses held up Brandon Lindsay 4th Family Inc
