Last week, our Data Teams took some time to step away from their screens and have some fun together! They spent the evening testing their trivia skills at a pub quiz and gearing up for an action-packed round of laser quest. ?? At Getsafe, we encourage our teams to meet on a quarterly basis, to support our hybrid model and allow us to balance remote work with in-person connections. It’s great to see our teams making time to connect, celebrate, and enjoy each other’s company outside of work.

As part of Germany's start-up community, we support the vision of Not Optional, launched in 2019 to advocate for more accessible and fair employee stock option plans (ESOPs) for employees who contribute to company success. Our CEO, Christian Wiens, was recently featured in Tech.eu, highlighting a key issue: “Employees may face nearly 50% tax on paper gains when granted shares, even without selling. Not Optional is pushing for fairer rules, so startups can offer real ownership without punitive taxes”. From the start, we prioritized giving every full-time employee an ownership stake through our virtual share program. Recently, our Chief People Officer, Sarina Hergarten, collaborated with our VC board to refine the terms of our performance grants. To reward exceptional contributions, we added a significant performance bonus in VSOP, shortened the vesting period from four to two years, and removed the cliff for new performance grants at Getsafe ??.
