    Where do you draw the line between persistence and harassment? Story time. Strap in. I listened to Aaron Spivak on Lukas Pakter's podcast and he shared a story saying you don’t want it bad enough if you’re not calling the people who abandon their carts. For those unfamiliar—when users create an account on a Shopify website and abandon their cart, their info is stored on the backend. While automated email flows handle follow-ups, I decided to take Aaron’s advice and make direct calls. First call: She picks up. I politely introduce myself, ask if she needs more info on our leg compression sleeves, and try to understand what’s holding her back. Sharply responds “That’s none of your business we went with another brand.” A bit unsettled, I apologized, expressed curiosity, and hung up. 2 minutes later I get a call back. "Sorry, I was rude. It was a gift for my son, and I wasn’t sure about your return policy." I explained our policy, highlighted what sets us apart, and connected over mine and her son’s running regiment. She loved our personalized modalities and the fact that I invited them to reach out directly to my cell for any questions or tips. A few hours later, her son followed us on Instagram. I messaged him—and the rest is history. Successfully flipped into loyal customers.     The secret how this fan won $1000, a new car, and a hug from Ben Stiller. This was the premise behind RECO's latest promo video and an opportunity that all marketers should be looking out for. At a recent Knicks game, NYC trainer Castelli Laflotte got the chance of a lifetime—to step onto the court and take his shot at winning cash, a car, and proving himself to his students. He breezed through the layup and jump shots, setting up the ultimate challenge: a half-court heave. Two dribbles. He lets it fly. Nothing but net. Overwhelmed with emotion, he collapsed to the floor before celebrating with a victory lap—capping it off with a hug from Ben Stiller. The moment exploded online, shared by the National Basketball Association (NBA), Bleacher Report, and many others. Stelli even landed a feature on Fox 5 (WNYW-TV New York), with more coverage on the way. When Zachary Feig, a former RECO intern, shared the clip, it sparked an idea. Zach and his family had trained with him for years so he introduced me. Stelli was all in on making RECO part of the story. We jumped at the opportunity and brought it to life. These viral moments present huge opportunities for brands to engage authentically and creatively. The key? Always staying alert and ready to execute.     How can you reach the pinnacle of sports and human performance? The Georgia Strength & Conditioning Summit brought together some of the brightest minds in human performance—coaches who have developed athletes at the highest levels. Being there as a sponsor with RECO was an incredible opportunity, and here are my key takeaways: ??Ron McKeefery – Culture is everything. He broke down how to create an environment where athletes fully commit, trust the process, and develop both on and off the field. His approach to balancing his career, ventures, and family expressed that adaptability is key to sustained success. ??Derek Groomer – His success isn’t random—it’s the result of precision. His deep understanding of human anatomy is like a cheat code, allowing him to fine-tune his program. His relentless testing and optimization make it clear why his athletes go from great to elite. ??Tripp Smith– Mastering movement efficiency, especially in change-of-direction training, to increase speed and range of consistent playmaking. ??J.D. Mehlhorn – The power of intentional training. Every rep has a purpose. His philosophy ensures athletes maximize every session and the work directly translates to sport. ??Michael Bewley – Nutrition must be approached with the same intent as training. There needs to be greater emphasis on creating healthy fueling habits during “the other 23 hours” of athletes' day-to-day. ??CJ Stockel – His Hall of Fame weightlifting expertise ensures athletes build strength safely, minimizing injury risk while maximizing growth. ??James Davis – Foundational isometric movements are key. Teaching athletes not just proper form, but how to recognize and correct improper mechanics. This event was a great opportunity to connect with and showcase RECO to the leaders who shape elite athletes and make recovery a necessity for sustained high performance. They know that staying fresh and recovering properly is essential to competing at the highest level, and RECO is here to support that process every step of the way.     I got cut from my high school basketball team, but now I’m making an impact for the University of Michigan Basketball program. Though it’s not for my athletic abilities.. This week I drove from New York to Michigan to deliver RECO leg compression sleeves and our heating + cooling massage guns to the team. At RECO one of our objectives has been to enhance college athletic programs focus on player health, recovery, and performance by increasing athletes accessibility to the essential recovery tools we offer. Our affordable, high-quality products allow athletic programs to equip their teams effectively—without breaking the budget.     I got to help future NBA stars with their recovery. This past weekend was a phenomenal showcase of young talent as I attended the Battle by the Beach basketball tournament with RECO, my premium, affordable recovery startup. The event was a gathering of some of the best high school basketball players in the country with names like AJ Dybantsa, Jason Crowe Jr., and Gene Roebuck, making it the perfect setting to feature our recovery solutions. What we experienced: ??High Demand: The intensity of the tournament highlighted the critical need for effective recovery strategies. Our booth became a hub for athletes seeking quick relief and tips on muscle care between games. ??Content: I was able to interview the MVP of each game while they were in our leg compression sleeves asking all questions basketball and recovery related that has amassed close to 100,000 impressions on our social media. ??Partnerships: The talented and competitive games brought scouts, trainers, coaches, and players from all over the country who are a part of the exact schools, teams, and organizations we target for business-to-business partnerships. Testing our quality in person breaks the stigma that our products could be less reliable due to our affordable price. It was inspiring to see the awareness and proactive approach these young athletes have towards recovery. The event allowed us to build meaningful connections, not just as a vendor, but as a partner in these athletes' journey to top performance and beyond. Participating in this prestigious event not only increased our visibility but also solidified our reputation as innovators in the sports recovery space.     RECO and other brands joined forces with MarketPryce for an International Women’s Day campaign, gifting products to female student-athletes. I’m proud that RECO sold out of all our products after less than 24 hours, but not surprised as our brand perfectly aligns with the needs of female college athletes. Some amazing takeaways from a campaign like this include: ?? Boosting brand partnerships in women’s sports ?? Introducing female student-athletes to their first NIL experience ?? Expanding brand awareness to niche groups ?? Gathering crucial feedback from our target audience We have made many great connections with the athletes who chose our products and are very excited to continue receiving feedback and further nurturing partnerships with them and their schools.
