AI-powered cyber threats aren’t science fiction anymore. They’re happening right now. But a cyber attacker’s most valuable weapon isn’t a supercomputer or Terminator-esque AI program - it’s your data. In the past, threat actors relied on mass phishing emails, hoping someone would take the bait. Today, they’re more precise. They automatically collect personal details (home addresses, past employers, birthdays, and even answers to old security questions), assembling detailed dossiers on all of us. Then, with AI, they weaponize that information, using it to answer questions like: ?? What kind of email would convince this person to click? ?? How would their best friend ask them for a favor? ?? What specific words or phrases would make them lower their guard? These AI-led details make phishing emails and deepfake scams eerily convincing - even for the trained eye. But AI is just a tool - it needs quality input to generate believable output. If you remove that input, the system collapses. In other words, the real threat comes from the data fueling these attacks, not the AI itself. That’s why, at Picnic Corporation, we don’t just focus on stopping AI-powered threats. We also focus on continuously monitoring and safeguarding data so it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. Attackers are only as effective as the information they have. By reducing exposed personal information, we make these attacks ineffective. With no personal data and no convincing scams, all attackers can do is guess - which makes their scams much easier to spot. In the age of AI, effective cybersecurity goes deeper than stopping attacks - it cuts threat actors off at the source.

?? Insights from a research study by Picnic on more than 10,000 C-Suite executives in the USA ?? The vast majority of executives have a significant digital footprint, with over?93% of C-Suite members having a current or former home address visible via data brokers. On average, 11+ data broker profiles appear per executive. This level of exposure increases risks of stalking, doxing, and other forms of harassment, as an executive’s home address is easily available via a simple search. *How do I hack execs like Robert M. Lee in 2025 & how can you protect yourself and your team?!*? Thanks Picnic Corporation & Matt P. for partnering with me to demo how contact details on data brokerage sites can lead to an executive deepfake impersonation attack in a live video call (with the brilliant Robert M. Lee as my target). For this demo w/ Robert M. Lee for Picnic Corporation, I used a brand new deepfake tool. Previous deepfake tools of this caliber require you to upload the target reading out a code to deepfake them...this new tool sadly did not require any checks before letting me deepfake and voice clone Rob within 30 seconds! Asking for a password is just one example of what attackers are doing when they pretend to be executives (with deepfakes) to the exec's team. Attackers are also asking for wire transfers (millions in many cases), and sensitive docs. And these types of exec hacks are so interesting for attackers because attackers have been getting caught up in email filters so they turn to phone calls & texts to attack. Attackers can easily find contact details on data brokerage sites to contact exec's teammates pretending to be the exec to the target (which is why it's essential those contact details are removed online for execs and their teams, hence why I partnered with Picnic Corporation on this live demo video). And this isn't just hypothetical, we're starting to see a real uptick with attackers targeting execs and their teams specifically, here are some of the latest examples in the news: CNN: British engineering giant Arup revealed as $25 million deepfake scam victim https://lnkd.in/dWs8fQF7 TechCrunch: Wiz CEO says company was targeted with deepfake attack that used his voice https://lnkd.in/dwv99RRw Fortune: Ferrari exec foils deepfake attempt by asking the scammer a question only CEO Benedetto Vigna could answer https://lnkd.in/gDf6GCqK New York Times: Voice Deepfakes Are Coming for Your Bank Balance https://lnkd.in/dKYAkt3N Forbes: Fraudsters Cloned Company Director's Voice In $35 Million Heist https://lnkd.in/dMveZR37

  • The numbers tell a troubling story: 93% of C-Suite executives have their home addresses exposed on data broker sites. 94% have plaintext passwords available to attackers. 100% have been caught in data breaches — with an average of 43 breaches per executive. These aren't just statistics. They represent real, exploitable pathways to both cyber and physical threats against leadership teams. #executiveprotection #digitalriskprotection #dataprivacy

According to Security.org, only 6% of American adults have used data removal services, and only 12% of those who never used one will do so in 2025. ?? Facing a growing physical and cybersecurity threat landscape where personal and professional digital footprints are continuously being exposed and exploited by threat actors, security-savvy businesses should not rely on their users to make security decisions that can impact corporate security. ?? With 94% of the US adult population not subscribing to consumer-focused PII removal services, security leaders should take the matter into their own hands and consider an enterprise-focused solution to reduce and harden their organization’s human attack surface. ??? Picnic Corporation completed our 4th annual charity Polar Dip at Lake Anne! With 8 inches of ice chainsawed away, we cannonballed into making a difference (we bring the same enthusiasm and results to enterprise privacy, typically without the ice bath). This year's success wouldn't have been possible without: * Kiwanis Club of Tysons - keeping this meaningful tradition alive * Lake Anne Brew House - our fearless co-plungers and partners * Gail Toth - the visionary founder of the Lake Anne polar dip * Richard Wickersham - our spontaneous, much-welcomed guest plunger * Picnic Corporation leadership - championing community initiatives while building the future of enterprise privacy Want to learn more about how Picnic Corporation approaches community impact and enterprise privacy? https://getpicnic.com/ #PolarDip #GivingBack

  • ?? Matt P. Q&A with PropertyCasualty360 ?? After the tragic murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York on December 4, 2024, Picnic CEO Matt Polak spoke with a P&C insurance trade publication about the risks faced by executives and their families. You can read the full interview here ?? https://lnkd.in/ehG4g-Sg Q: How might potential threats find their executive targets? Are family members also targets? Are they doing it online? A: It is often easiest to hunt someone online by targeting family. In addition to targeting family social media accounts, which are often overlooked by executives and their security details, threat actors most frequently start on LinkedIn to obtain basic geographic information and an image of the executive. The next most common place threat actors look for personal information is on public data brokers, which provide a wealth of personally identifiable information (PII) such as home addresses, family information, personal contact information, and much more. In addition to social media, data brokers, and a general web search, threat actors also scour the Dark Web for additional information on their targets (...) (...) The scale of the personal data exposure problem for American executives is an epidemic. Picnic data on more than 10,000 C-Suite executives in the U.S. indicates that 93% have at least one home address exposed on the public web, emanating from an average of 11 data broker profiles and 43 dark web data breaches. #executiveprotection #digitalriskprotection #CSO #CEO #dataprivacy

?? Compromised privacy leads to compromised security. We recently used our platform to assess the digital footprint exposure of more than 10,000 C-Suite executives in the USA. These two findings (out of many others) illustrate the magnitude of the problem: ?? 93%+ of C-Suite have a current or former home address on at least one data broker site.? ?? C-Suite executives have an average of 11 data broker profiles. Removing this pervasive digital exposure?for executives, employees, and their families should be a top preventative security measure for any organization looking to reduce physical and cyber risks. Picnic has a zero-touch solution to automate continuous data broker takedowns, among other capabilities that make people and their organizations more secure.
