On Tuesday, Jonathan Lucus, EdD, MPA, EML, executive director of NSITE, was a speaker at the CTA Foundation's Accessibility Roundtable at the Verizon Technology and Policy Center in Washington, D.C. Lucus joined a panel discussion featuring the CTA Foundation and MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC AMERICA FOUNDATION grant recipients. NSITE received a $150,000 MEAF grant this past summer to fund expansion of its information technology programs. In celebration of #NationalDisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth, the conversation focused on how to continue to advance accessibility in technology. #NSITE #NDEAM

On Tuesday, August 27, NSITE Executive Director Jonathan Lucus, EdD, MPA, EML and Douglas Goist, program manager, workforce development, were among a number of people invited to the White House to celebrate the kickoff to the Paralympics and Disability Pride in advance of the Paralympics Opening Ceremony, which took place on Wednesday of this week. Goist, who plays on the U.S. National Blind Hockey Team, and Lucus took a walking tour through the White House. Visitors could also leave good-luck messages for Team USA. Said Goist, “Also joining was Heather Haddock from Louisiana Association for the Blind – I’m sorry we could not sync up with them for a photo – there were quite a few people there; apparently including a former U.S. swimmer Paralympian.” #NSITE #DisabilityAwareness
