#EnergyUpdate: Saipem Merges with Subsea7 Italy's Saipem and Norway’s Subsea7 have reached an agreement on the key terms for possible merger of the two companies under one unit to be named Saipem7, whose combined backlog would be over $45 billion. Saipem and Subsea7 shareholders will own 50% each of the share capital of the combined company, whose revenue is expected to be around $20.9 billion, and core earnings in excess of $2 billion. Saipem7 will become a global organization of over 45,000 people, including more than 9,000 engineers and project managers. Subsea7 shareholders will receive 6.688 Saipem shares for each Subsea7 share held. Subsea7 will distribute an extraordinary dividend for an amount equal to $470 million immediately prior to completion. The combined company will be listed on both the Milan and Oslo stock exchange. The offshore business will comprise all of Subsea7 and Saipem’s offshore engineering and construction activities. The parties currently plan to submit the final terms of the proposed combination to their respective Board of Directors for approval and to enter into the merger agreement around mid-2025. Completion is currently expected to occur in the second half of 2026. #engineering #epc #offshore #oilandgas

#VesselUpdate: ONE Guyana FPSO En Route to ExxonMobil’s Yellowtail Field ONE Guyana FPSO, the fourth floating production facility to be operated by a consortium led by ExxonMobil in Guyana has departed from Singapore on its route to Guyana. Once the FPSO vessel is installed, the consortium plans to boost output capacity to 940,000 barrels per day (bpd) later this year. The group produced an average of 616,000 bpd last year after upgrades at two of its three facilities. The fourth FPSO, One Guyana, was built by SBM Offshore with a 250,000-bpd output capacity. Two more vessels are expected to arrive in Guyana in the coming two years. #oilfielddevelopment #oilandgas #oiljobs

Kick Incident on a Drilling Rig: Why Well Control is Critical! ?? In drilling operations, encountering a kick—an unexpected influx of formation fluid into the wellbore—can be a serious hazard. If not managed swiftly, it can escalate into a blowout, risking lives, equipment, and the environment. This video illustrates what can happen when a kick occurs, and highlights the importance of vigilance, early detection, and effective well control procedures to mitigate risks. Understanding the type of influx—whether gas, oil, or saltwater—is crucial in selecting the right kill method to regain control. At Manup, we prioritize safety, training, and operational excellence, ensuring that every drilling professional hired through our platform is well-equipped to handle critical situations like this. Have you ever encountered a kick during drilling? How would you assess the severity of the incident in this video? Could it have been prevented? #Thought ?? Envisioning a world without oil makes us reflect on the profound transformations that would reshape our daily lives, industries, and economies.?? Currently, global oil demand stands at approximately 104 million barrels per day, with projections suggesting a rise to nearly 110 million barrels per day by the late 2020s. Despite discussions on sustainability, oil remains deeply embedded in modern life. From the phones we use to the clothes we wear and the roads we drive on, petroleum-based products are everywhere. So much of our daily lives depend on oil in ways we don’t always realize. A shift away from oil would require significant advancements in alternative energy sources and materials. While the International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts a slowdown in oil demand growth due to clean energy adoption, reimagining life without oil isn’t as simple as it seems. So, here’s the big question: Have you ever considered a world without the oil and gas industry? Yes, we do know that there is a need to foster a more sustainable and resilient global economy. However, is a world without oil really possible? ?? ?? Do Share your thoughts with us! #oilandgasindustry #oilindustry #oilproduction #oiljobs

#VesselUpdate: Baobab FPSO shutting down ahead of refurbishment Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) has halted production through the MODEC FPSO Baobab Ivoirien MV10 offshore C?te d’Ivoire, ahead of sending the vessel ashore for a dry dock refurbishment. According to partner Vaalco Energy, the final lifting of crude oil from the vessel will take place in the next few days. Mobilization has started of support vessels and equipment to disconnect the vessel, which is due to depart the field on March 24 to undergo a wet tow to Dubai Shipyard for the refurbishment. Once that work has finished, the reconnected FPSO should be able to continue production through at least 2038, subject to securing regulatory approvals for the license extension and additional investment. It's worth mentioning that during the FPSO 20-year production history from the Baobab field, 24 production wells?and?five injection wells were drilled at the field, which is operated by CNRL (57.61% working interest) The Baobab field is located 30km off the coast of Cote d’Ivoire in water depths ranging from 900 to 1,300 meters and consists of five distinguishable reservoir units in Middle to Late Albian sequences. #fpso #oilandgas #offshore #oiljobs #offshorejobs

The first thought that comes to people’s minds when talking about underwater welding is the danger of mixing water and electricity. Indeed, underwater welding is undoubtedly one of the most challenging and dangerous professions, requiring a high level of skill and caution. While the mixing of water and electricity is a known hazard, the real threats lie in other aspects such as drowning, decompression sickness (often referred to as "the bends"), and hypothermia caused by prolonged exposure to cold water. The complexity of underwater welding goes beyond just welding techniques. Expert welder divers must navigate a unique combination of variables, including varying atmospheric gases, fluctuating water and gas pressures, and the use of specialized diving and welding equipment. Additionally, they often work in confined or limited spaces, which can heighten the risks. To ensure safety in such a high-risk field, several precautions are critical. This leads to a crucial question: What are the key safety precautions or rules of underwater welding? If you were to assess the safety measures demonstrated in the video below, what score would you give for safety adherence? Share your thoughts and insights in the comments below! ?? ???? Did You Know? The Hot Tap System Revolutionizes Pipeline and Vessel Operations A Hot Tap System—also known as hot tapping or line stopping—creates a temporary or permanent connection to pressurized or submerged pipelines or vessels without interrupting operations. In offshore salvage operations, this system is vital for creating an interface on a vessel’s hull, enabling the safe removal of fuel or oil from a sunken ship. By pumping hydrocarbons out, the system helps prevent or reduce spills into the surrounding water, protecting the offshore ecosystems. Simultaneously, environmental remediation tools like skimmers and containment booms are deployed to manage and mitigate any contamination risks. This sophisticated technique demands meticulous planning and expert execution to ensure personnel safety, protect the environment, and preserve the structural integrity of the salvaged vessel. Musing Time:?? ??How does the Hot Tap System maintain pressure control during operation? ??What are the key safety protocols to protect personnel during hot tapping? ??What challenges might arise when applying this technique to older or heavily damaged vessels? Share your thoughts below! ?? #HotTapping #EngineeringInnovation #EnvironmentalProtection
