Wrote the post I wish existed when I started exploring #ApacheIceberg: How to query from a laptop. Obviously not how you'd deploy to production but still a very helpful tool to explore how to talk to various catalogs and storage options. Unfortunately, most of the getting started content assumes you want to use a local catalog/storage which defeats the purpose of using Iceberg. The hardest part still is getting the connection and credentials right for each permutation of catalog/storage, hopefully something that gets easier as the major catalogs move to adopt REST.

Last week, I kept tugging on the Iceberg compatibility thread and dug into Databricks. Given Databricks deep relationship with Spark, not surprising to find that support is solid. But it's a lot more interesting to see how they're approaching compatibility between Iceberg and Delta Lake with UniForm.
