This is how UP's science-backed scroll happy? algorithm all started. As the brilliant Renee Teeley ? says it: "everyone knows that social media is bad for you." I thought so too - I thought "everyone knows" would be good enough. Until around a year ago I saw a B Round startup proving that their product worked with brain scans. Wow - this is objective proof here, nothing subjective about it. I sat in the room in a pitch compeititon as investors ooo's and ahh's (how do you spell that anyway? Saying no to AI devil on my shoulder wanting to polish, pushing post) I went down the rabbit whole with 3 brilliant Neuroscientists Nate, Brynn, and Adam and we ended up finding that content can make an unbelievable impact on our brain in the matter of minutes. This here was our very first scan on my brain (I feel like I have some Guinnea Pig qualities in a good way..). On the left I watched a curated feed from our team at UP, Inc while hooked up to qEEG (the nature feed was made with chill vibe type content - something we baked in standard to the UP App - join the waitlist!). On the right I just opened up TikTok and watched what they showed me on a random Tuesday morning. The Neuroscientists told me that this red is high stress occurring in the panic part of my brain. This is the part of my brain that is supposed to kick into gear when protecting my family from intruders or something like that. Both scans on the left are as they are expected to be. Stress free & healthy - compared to hundreds of thousands of people similar to me. I was so blown away, we decided to do a full study to get more data. This pursuit eventually led us to the brilliant facial coding expert & ex-MIT Instructor Matthew Strafuss (if you want to know what a Geek this guy is about facial coding, check his cover photo - jk Matt I love you). It turns out the brain scans and the face scans were telling the exact same story - except face scans are more scalable. The rest is proprietary history. Or should I say, history in the making! -- Like this?
