Founder & CEO @ UP, the Scroll Happy?? Social Platform. See the real results by using our slider at scrollhappy.com.

This is how UP's science-backed scroll happy? algorithm all started. As the brilliant Renee Teeley ? says it: "everyone knows that social media is bad for you." I thought so too - I thought "everyone knows" would be good enough. Until around a year ago I saw a B Round startup proving that their product worked with brain scans. Wow - this is objective proof here, nothing subjective about it. I sat in the room in a pitch compeititon as investors ooo's and ahh's (how do you spell that anyway? Saying no to AI devil on my shoulder wanting to polish, pushing post) I went down the rabbit whole with 3 brilliant Neuroscientists Nate, Brynn, and Adam and we ended up finding that content can make an unbelievable impact on our brain in the matter of minutes. This here was our very first scan on my brain (I feel like I have some Guinnea Pig qualities in a good way..). On the left I watched a curated feed from our team at UP, Inc while hooked up to qEEG (the nature feed was made with chill vibe type content - something we baked in standard to the UP App - join the waitlist!). On the right I just opened up TikTok and watched what they showed me on a random Tuesday morning. The Neuroscientists told me that this red is high stress occurring in the panic part of my brain. This is the part of my brain that is supposed to kick into gear when protecting my family from intruders or something like that. Both scans on the left are as they are expected to be. Stress free & healthy - compared to hundreds of thousands of people similar to me. I was so blown away, we decided to do a full study to get more data. This pursuit eventually led us to the brilliant facial coding expert & ex-MIT Instructor Matthew Strafuss (if you want to know what a Geek this guy is about facial coding, check his cover photo - jk Matt I love you). It turns out the brain scans and the face scans were telling the exact same story - except face scans are more scalable. The rest is proprietary history. Or should I say, history in the making! -- Like this? Try UP's science-backed scroll happy? algorithm by joining the waitlist at scrollhappy.com and follow Nick Rotola and UP, Inc for updates on our journey taking this thing to market this summer.

Let’s be honest, we could all benefit from that! We’re launching our Beta soon with a select group of creators. Want to be one of the first to join? I’ll drop the application link in the comments below! #creatoreconomy #newjob

Not only is healthier content looking like it’s better for your mental health, it’s also showing early signs of being more engaging. Lots more data to gather - but the doom scroll soup brain is not as engaged as you would think it is. Zombie-like would be a better descriptor. — Like this? It may have been 13 hours of experimental research today, but we did it! I couldn’t have asked for a better team! Nick Rotola and crew + ORU students crushed it today! Way to go, everyone! It doesn’t stop here - continuing to gather data as we explore the effects of social media use on the brain and educating parents and teens on healthier alternatives!

Other than overconsumption - the act of consuming social content isn’t bad for you. The type of content is EVERYTHING. Before 2020 and the ‘for you’ movement of almost fully algorithmically recommended content we were much happier. Creators have gotten better, but the algo has gotten more ruthless. At UP, Inc we think the world’s youth deserves incredible social content without spiking their anxiety, depression, and hopelessness. We’re coming.. ??

If you haven’t had your mind blown in a while. ?? These initial scans of my brain while watching early UP feeds vs Trad ‘For You’ feeds are insanely telling. This is still the first inning - but it’s an inspiring & energizing first inning. ?? — Like this? Frequent social media use is a growing concern, linked to detrimental mental health outcomes in children and adolescents, according to Nate Shanok, PhD. Teens exposed to unrealistic beauty standards and constant fear of missing out (FOMO) on social media platforms are more likely to experience elevated anxiety levels, increased loneliness, and a decline in self-esteem. A recent study, "Reducing Social Media Use Improves Appearance and Weight Esteem in Youth with Emotional Distress," further highlights the negative impact of social media on body image. The study found that limiting social media consumption to one hour per day significantly improved appearance and weight esteem in participants aged 17-25. It's time for a change.?We must create healthier digital spaces that prioritize well-being and discourage harmful content. Limiting social media usage and focusing on positive interactions can help protect our youth from the negative consequences of excessive screen time. UP, Inc social offers a refreshing alternative to the toxic landscape of traditional social media. UP fosters a healthier and more supportive online environment by focusing on uplifting themes like teamwork, collaboration, awe-inspiring moments, and natural beauty. We also encourage responsible social media use by promoting a daily limit of two hours, a significant step towards mitigating the harmful effects of excessive screen time. Join us in redefining social media and prioritizing well-being.?Let's create a digital space where teens can connect, grow, and thrive without the constant pressure to conform to unrealistic standards. #GetUp #socialmedia #mentalhealth
