Through whole-child targeted supports, incentive programs, social-emotional development and intentional mentoring, The Gentlemen's League works to reduce suspension rates; improve student achievement; and decrease juvenile violent crime rates. About Us: Gestalt Community Schools is a network of public charter schools serving K-12 scholars in Memphis, TN. We leverage community assets to empower citizens who will be college-ready, career-ready, and community-ready. The mission of Gestalt is to build better communities through education. Our Schools: For the 2017-18 school year we will have nearly 200 talented educators committed to preparing over 2,200 students at the following five schools: Power Center Academy Elementary School (K-5), Power Center Academy Middle School (6-8), Power Center Academy High School (9-12), Power Center Academy (STEM) Middle (6-7) Southeast and Power Center Academy (STEM) Elementary School (KK-2) Southeast. We're excited to share that Gestalt Community Schools was awarded a $150,000 grant from The Cigna Group Foundation to invest in programs that educate the whole child – academically, socially and emotionally. The grant will be used to uplift our Network, Inclusion, Culture and Equity (NICE) Team. The NICE Team plans events such as equine therapy sessions, health and wellness fairs, art therapy classes, heritage celebrations and more. This grant will allow us to continue to expand our Social Emotional Learning program across our five Power Center Academy campuses.

At Gestalt, we believe that community wellness is essential to our scholars' educational experience. Recently, our teachers dedicated an afternoon to their well-being by engaging with local self-care practitioners. They learned meditation strategies and relaxation techniques, along with creative opportunities to practice wood carving, painting and more.

We would like to thank our amazing PCA principals for providing exceptional leadership and guidance for our teachers and scholars daily, as well as creating school environments that are collaborative, safe, supportive and trusting. ? Community partner spotlight ? As part of the expansion of our College, Career and Technical Education (CCTE) programming, Gestalt has partnered with A Natural Affair Beauty Lounge to offer our scholars a hair care summer internship. Scholars spend 4-6 weeks in training with the owner and her staff learning natural hair care techniques, as well as salon operations. Through the internship, scholars earn a Tennessee braider/sanitation certification, which allows them to continue to work in a salon. We're so grateful for our #GestaltPartners! We'd like to thank Mayor Paul Young, Tennessee Charter School Center and Memphis Education Fund for visiting our Power Center Academy Elementary School in Hickory Hill this afternoon. Mayor Young was able to tour the school, sit in on a few classes and meet with school leadership. Our elementary scholars were thrilled to see Mayor Young in person, and he even greeted several of them with a handshake! Gestalt Community Schools is beyond grateful for Mayor Young's support and his commitment to uplifting, engaging and inspiring our city's youth. Thank you again for visiting PCA!
