  • What comes to mind when you hear "German industry"? How about BMWs, Haribo gummy bears, Stihl chainsaws, and HelloFresh meal kits, to name a few brands? The 200+ German subsidiaries who responded to the 2025 German American Business Outlook survey are active in over 10 industries, ranging from automotive manufacturing to financial services. Germany is known for its automobile industry, of course. And notably, BMW of North America is home to the largest BMW plant outside of Germany, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. In 2023, approximately 15% of all new BMW sales came from the United States! As the graphic shows, German companies are active in many industries beyond automobiles. For example, HelloFresh, the largest meal kit provider in the United States, has three corporate offices and nine distribution centers across the country — in New York, Colorado, and Illinois. German companies like these bring high-quality products to the US — and they create thousands of jobs for Americans around the country. It's a win-win cooperation! #GABO

    • A bar chart depicting the key industries of German subsidiaries in the US, according to responses to the German-American Business Outlook 2025 survey results. It reads: Industrial manufacturing 39%, automotive 31%, professional services 21%, chemicals, pharma, & healthcare 16%, construction & infrastructure 14%, transportation & logistics 14%, consumer goods & retail 11%, electronics/semiconductors 10%, energy & natural resources 10%, financial services 7%, other 11%
  • Great commentary from Germany’s Consul General in San Francisco, Oliver Schramm! He reminds us that “despite political shifts and economic headwinds, the German-American economic bond remains vital — a relationship built not only on goods and services but on shared innovation, investment, and mutual trust. As we navigate new challenges, including evolving (and completely unnecessary) tariff debates, one truth endures: Our economies thrive best when we collaborate and avoid the mistake of falling into zero-sum thinking.” Read more ??

????Where is the European SpaceX or BlueOrigin you ask? Very probably in Bavaria! ???? ????Isar Aerospace just received its launch license and as early as this week could perform the first-ever orbital launch from European soil AND the first commercial European orbital launch. ?? And less than 50 miles away Rocket Factory Augsburg - RFA is preparing for its first orbital launch later this year. ??But how do they expect to compete given their smaller scale (and lack of centibillionaire backing)? Glad you asked: ??By leveraging the extreme efficiency of Germany's manufacturing ecosystem - but following two very different philosophies. While Isar Aerospace is betting on vertical integration, additive manufacturing and automation, RFA aims to dramatically cut production cost through smart sourcing, drawing on Germany's unparalleled network of cutting-edge automotive suppliers. ??? Which approach do you think will be succesful? Watch this in-depth documentary comparing both approaches- you will not be able to resist rooting for both teams:

  • ?????????? Germany and the United States share one of the closest and most capable partnerships across many fields—including space. As the U.S. pushes new frontiers, German technology—renowned for its quality and reliability—plays a key role. In fact, German components and expertise are part of nearly every space mission! That's why we hosted a pitch and networking event at the German Embassy yesterday, bringing together German space businesses with key players from the U.S. private sector and government. A fantastic opportunity to foster collaboration and innovation in this dynamic industry! Followed by opening remarks of Ambassador Michaelis and Matthias Amberg, we heard a keynote speech from Janice Starzyk and then had an excellent panel discussion on "Transatlantic Cooperation in Space: Innovation, Policy, and Industry Trends". Thank you to the panelists: - John Neal, Executive Director, Space Policy, U.S. Chamber of Commerce - Chiara Moenter, Manager of Space, German Aerospace Industry Association - Steven R. E. Jordan Tomaszewski, VP of Space Systems at Aerospace Industries Association - and moderator Richard DalBello from RDB Space And of course, thank you to the 13 German #aerospace companies that pitched their products and innovations! • Today, the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD.25) kicks off - one of the world’s leading conferences on clean energy and climate action. The event brings together ministers, industry leaders, scientists, and civil society representatives from around the world. Their mission? To seize the energy transition as an opportunity for economic growth, energy security, and innovation! ?? Key topics at BETD.25: ? Implementing COP28 commitments ? Expanding renewables and energy efficiency ? Mobilizing investments for clean technologies As German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock noted: "The market is clearly pointing to renewables. In 2024, on a global level, investments in clean sources of energy and infrastructure were nearly twice as high as investments in fossil energies." With renewable energy costs falling, wind and solar expanding rapidly, and energy storage becoming more competitive, the conditions for a successful transition have never been better. #BETD25 #EnergyTransition #CleanEnergy

    • Conference participants chat in a hall. Every spring, more than 2,000 participants from over 130 countries, more than 50 foreign and energy ministers and state secretaries as well as around 100 speakers meet in Berlin to discuss the future of renewable energies.
  • Have you heard the latest news about Germany's massive defense and infrastructure spending plan? German Ambassador Michaelis called it very promising and a strong message to our partners: Germany is ready to bolster freedom and peace in Europe. Our Consul General in Miami has more details for you ??

?Germany is back.“ Leaders of the outgoing and incoming German governments agreed on historic legislation to provide all necessary funding to build our defense capabilities and add €500bn in investment in Germany‘s future competitiveness: infrastructure, schools, clean energy. "Germany is back," said Merz, announcing the agreement on debt reform. "It is a clear message to our partners and friends, but also to our opponents, to the enemies of our freedom: we are capable of defending ourselves and we are now fully prepared to defend ourselves," he said. Merz also said he expects the country to release €3 billion ($3.27 billion) in military aid to Ukraine once the upper house passes the debt reform. "There will be no shortage of financial resources to defend freedom and peace on our continent," Merz stressed. "Germany is making its major contribution to the defense of freedom and peace in Europe." Meanwhile, Social Democrat co-leader Lars Klingbeil said a major government borrowing and investment push was a "powerful boost" for Europe's largest economy. "We have laid the foundation for Germany to get back on its feet and protect itself," Klingbeil said after his SPD agreed with conservatives and Greens on the historic debt package.

  • ?? Exploring the Future of Global Energy & Transatlantic Cooperation at CERAWeek 2025 What are the future trends in the global energy sector? How will the U.S. and Germany work together on energy security? At CERAWeek in Texas—gathering 9,500 participants from 80 countries—these questions were at the forefront. Philipp Steinberg, head of the German delegation, engaged in constructive discussions with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the U.S. Department of State and others. Some key takeaways: ??Germany is committed to strengthening its energy partnership with the new U.S. Administration, focusing on energy security and robust value chains. ???U.S. LNG companies are closely monitoring EU initiatives like #MethanVO and #CSDDD - areas where Germany continues to advocate for smart regulation. ???While hydrogen played a smaller role at CERAWeek—with blue H? broadly welcomed and green hydrogen met with some skepticism—we still see vast potential. The upcoming Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (#BETD2025) promises further international exchanges on this vital topic. ???As noted by CERAWeek co-founder Daniel Yergin in Foreign Affairs Magazine, we are not only experiencing an energy transition but an "energy addition": global demand is soaring, and despite booming renewables, fossil fuels remain significant. Balancing the energy transition with supply security is a complex, tightrope walk shaped by geopolitical and economic forces. The insights from CERAWeek reaffirm our commitment to transatlantic cooperation in driving a sustainable and secure energy future! • What do Georgia, New York, Illinois, and Pennsylvania all have in common? ?? According to the 2025 results of the German American Business Outlook survey conducted by the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Washington, DC, these are the top states where German businesses have established their US headquarters—from Siemens in New York, NY, to SAP in Newtown Square, PA. Over 60% of the 200+ German subsidiaries that participated in the survey already have a production facility in the US.
