This week German Consul General Oliver Schramm officially welcomed our new Head of School Dr. Wolfram Schrimpf at the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany San Francisco.

Last week, our History Department organized election days on both campuses! GISSV students from grades 6 to 12 participated in a mock Junior Parliamentary Election for the German Bundestag—an opportunity to experience democracy firsthand. After counting the votes, our school results were submitted to the German Federal Agency for Civic Education, contributing to the nationwide tally of participating schools. The Juniorwahl project by Kumulus e.V. brings political education to life by allowing students to engage in realistic election simulations. Shark Tank 2025 at GISSV ???? Before winter break, our Entrepreneurs Club hosted another incredible Shark Tank event, where students wowed the audience with their creativity, innovation, and real-world solutions! With over 100 attendees—including parents, students, and esteemed guests—the atmosphere was electric. A huge thank-you to our "sharks" Jo Ann Sison, Ph.D., Dirk Lueth, Lutz Finger, and Andrew Bright, MBA, CEng for their invaluable mentorship, and to Mubarak Mohamoud for continuing and expanding this impactful program. Today, we celebrated this milestone together: Our leadership team, including our new Head of School, Dr. Wolfram Schrimpf, welcomed students and staff in the morning, teachers brought the number 25 to life in creative lessons, lunchtime was filled with a scavenger hunt and music from the past 25 years, and we came together for a joyful school-wide celebration featuring heartfelt 25-word speeches—plus cake, of course! ?? GISSV Wins Beste Schule International in Mathe im Advent 2024! ?? We’re excited to announce that GISSV has been awarded the prestigious Beste Schule International prize in the Mathe im Advent 2024 competition for grades 4–6 and 7–9! Our talented students also earned gold, silver, and bronze certificates, as well as special awards for their outstanding performance! In late January, Assistant Head of Elementary School, Ina Denis, proudly traveled to Berlin to accept the award on behalf of GISSV at the Freie Universit?t Berlin, where nearly 700 winners were honored. This year’s competition saw nearly 200,000 participants from over 70 countries competing! One of the highlights was a special message from Germany’s Federal Minister of Education and Research, Cem ?zdemir, who showed his support for the incredible effort behind the 2024 competition.
