Another great #Apprentice in the spotlight of #NationalApprenticeshipWeek! Austin was one of our very first CAD/CAM Apprentices and we appreciate his input, patience and feedback. We're proud having him in our program. Go Austin! #NAW #NAW2024 #Spotlight #ApprenticeshipPrograms #SkilledTrades
Spotlight on Austin: VEKA's CAD/CAM Trailblazer! Meet Austin, a Riverside High School graduate (Class of 2016) and Kent State University alum (Class of 2021, Bachelor of Science in Architecture). From working as summer help at VEKA between 2017 and 2020 to becoming the FIRST participant in VEKA’s CAD/CAM Apprenticeship program, Austin is paving the way for innovation! Why VEKA? The opportunity for ongoing learning drew Austin to VEKA’s apprenticeship program, where he’s mastering the art of Computer-Aided Drafting and Manufacturing. Just recently, VEKA sent him to San Diego for Autodesk University, a conference showcasing cutting-edge advancements in CAD software—tools he uses every day to shape VEKA’s future. Austin’s Favorite Moment: Programming a unique part for fine-tuning, which was a hit with the team! In his own words: “I enjoy being able to help improve the plant through designing new layouts or improving plant functionality.” We’re proud of Austin’s journey and can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next.
