After years of closure, ?????? ???????????? at Hudson Yards in New York City finally reopened last week to the public. It is one of New York City's most photographed places. Designed by London's ?????????????????????? ????????????, the 150-foot tall beehive-shaped structure now has added safety features. Visitors can explore and climb The Vessel through a network of interconnected staircases and platforms. Ten ???????? ?????????? ???????? ?????????????? were installed inside the stair landings. Tuned Mass Dampers (TMDs) are custom-built devices that increase the #damping of a structure in resonance. During fabrication, TMDs are pre-tuned to the theoretical modes and dynamic properties of the structure and then precisely tuned after installation - to match the actual #dynamic characteristics of the structure. GERB Tuned Mass Dampers are passive devices, do not require any power supply, and are ??????????????????????-????????. ?Did you know that existing buildings can be ???????????????????????with building base isolation to increase the level of ????????????-?????????? ?????????? ?????? ???????????????????protection? When an ?????????????????building is converted from #commercial real estate to #residential real estate, the requirements for noise and vibration protection may increase. If that building is close to ?? rail/subway tracks, you might also need to consider implementing base isolation to protect the building from rail-induced vibration. ?But how do you add base isolation to an existing building? In collaboration with Clark Construction Group, Tadjer Cohen Edelson Associates, Inc. and Shen Milsom & Wilke, GERB engineered an isolation system for this project that provides the desired low frequency isolation, but also provides a structurally sound solution with ???? ???????????????????? ?????????? - particularly as compared to rubber or other elastomeric materials. Additionally, factory pre-loaded spring bearings minimize elevation changes during construction as loads increase.
