Last week, the Alliance welcomed a record 160 participants to Washington, DC for our annual Congressional Reception and Advocacy Day. Participants met with 140+ Congressional offices to share how important international exchange programs are in making America safer, stronger, and more prosperous. Advocacy Day 2025 The Alliance Abroad Group and GeoVisions teams are in Washington for #AdvocacyDay 2025, reinforcing the message that investing in people-to-people exchanges is an investment in America’s future. Joining with members of the Alliance for International Exchange , we are making the case for the critical role of international exchange programs in strengthening the United States. These programs directly align with Secretary Rubio’s priorities—making America safer, stronger, and more prosperous—yet they face an uncertain future due to a funding freeze. We are urging members of Congress to take action by contacting Secretary Rubio to lift the freeze. The impact is clear: ? 90% of exchange program funding is spent in America or on Americans ? BridgeUSA participants contributed $811M to the US economy in 2023 ? These programs foster diplomacy, workforce development, and global cooperation. Well said James Bell! We see this every day in our work! Particularly in the schools where the Interns and Trainees provide classroom support, and bring so much of their unique cultural backgrounds into the mix, whether that's through showcasing foods, music, dance or costumes from their home countries. It brings the inter-cultural exchange to life for the kids in a way that nothing else really can.
