Our team has successfully completed the initial investigation stages for a solar farm project in the Central North Island. ? This included comprehensive ground investigations and geophysics methods such as Thermal Resistivity, Test Pits, Electrical Resistivity, DPSH, and deploying one of our CPT rigs on site. ? Understanding the ground conditions is crucial for the long-term viability and success of solar farms, as it ensures that the design life accurately reflects real-world conditions. The seamless execution was made possible by coordinated efforts across the North Island.

Over the past few months, we've been hard at work at a remote site, installing a range of geotechnical and environmental sensors to support our client's project and compliance efforts. These sensors monitor key properties like stream levels, flow rates, groundwater levels, and atmospheric conditions. The team set up a remote network across the project so that the data could be transmitted in real time through our platform, Cirro, which also has the ability to notify the project when certain thresholds (decided by our client and set up by us) may be exceeded through our alerts & alarms system. With access to near real time data, our client can monitor site conditions anytime, anywhere, enabling faster decision-making, early issue detection, and proactive environmental management. This not only helps them stay compliant but also improves efficiency and reduces risk.

Great to see our Impact Tester supporting ground engineering projects across the Tasman! Our mates over at Chadwick Geotechnics recently used our advanced compaction testing tool to deliver real-time, reliable data, enabling their clients to make informed decisions on-site. Designed and manufactured here in New Zealand, the Geotechnics Impact Tester is helping developers and contractors ensure compaction standards are met efficiently, keeping projects on track.? We’re proud to see it in action, supporting better outcomes across the industry.?
Ensuring soil and pavement materials meet the right standards is critical for keeping projects on schedule and within budget. Without reliable data on compaction quality, delays and rework can quickly add up, increasing costs and disrupting progress. Our field team recently conducted testing using the Geotechnics Impact Tester, a cutting-edge tool from our New Zealand sister company, Geotechnics Ltd. Designed as an advanced alternative to the Clegg Hammer, this tool provides accurate, real-time compaction data that aligns with ASTM and AS standards, allowing project teams to make informed decisions on-site. Having access to precise, reliable insights means potential issues can be identified early and addressed before they become costly setbacks. With extensive experience across a range of complex ground conditions, we provide more than just testing – we offer the expertise needed to interpret results and guide practical solutions that keep projects moving forward. If soil compaction challenges are slowing your progress, our team are here to help! Get in touch to find out how our testing solutions can support your next project.

As 2024 comes to an end we wanted to reflect on this year's key highlights, none of this would have been possible without the continued support of our incredible clients and partners. So, we say thank you! ? IANZ Accreditation ??: Our Metrology and Calibration Centre has achieved IANZ accreditation for our Soil Impact Tester Calibration method. We are proud to be one of the first in New Zealand to receive this certification, ensuring consistent, reliable calibration for Soil Impact Testers. ? Pagani Rig Acquisition ???: We’ve added a Pagani Rig to our fleet, significantly enhancing our North Island CPT capabilities. This advanced machine brings greater mobility, efficiency, and versatility to geotechnical investigations. ? Cirro Team Growth ??: Our Cirro team has welcomed 6 new members, further strengthening our ability to deliver industry-leading telemetry solutions. ? Adit ??: We have continued to develop and implement our laboratory testing portal Adit, with an external launch happening early in the new year. We can’t wait to show you what we've been working on. ? Eastern Busway Project ??: Our Auckland Field Technicians have been hard at work on the Eastern Busway project, providing quality assurance testing for NDMs, Shear Vanes, Scala Penetrometers, and Benkelman Beam testing. This project will deliver 5km of fully separated busway, enhancing transport infrastructure for the region. ? Renewable Energy Expansion ??: We have significantly expanded our scope in renewable energy projects, playing a key role in creating sustainable infrastructure and contributing to a greener future. As well as Thermal Resistivity, our services have expanded to Electrical Resistivity and supervision of Pile Pull Out Tests. Our offices will be closed over the Christmas break. During this time, we encourage customers to email us with any urgent enquiries, and we will review them as soon as we are able. Thank you for your understanding, and we wish you a safe and happy holiday season! ?

Behind the scenes at our Auckland Triaxial Lab, we're conducting a permeability test today. This might look straight out of a sci-fi movie, but it's vital for understanding how soil and rock react to water. Why does this matter? By assessing a material's permeability, we can predict its response to various loads and environmental conditions. This knowledge is also essential for designing and constructing stable foundations, roads, and other civil engineering projects. #permeabilitytesting | Alexander Eldridge
