GRI provided geotechnical investigation services for the Little Humbug Creek Bridge replacement on U.S. 26 in Clatsop County, Oregon! Our work included evaluating subsurface conditions and providing recommendations for foundation support, seismic design, earthwork, and retaining walls to help guide the design and construction of this important infrastructure project. Looking forward to seeing this project near completion!
Good news - no more "bah humbug" when driving on U.S. 26 near U.S. 101! We're wrapping up the Little Humbug Creek Bridge replacement, and it's looking good! Here’s the scoop: We built the bridge in stages to keep traffic impacts over the summer to a minimum. We also used innovative materials to speed up the process, like ultra high-performance concrete and an epoxy polymer concrete that let us finish the job faster. Regular concrete can take weeks to fully harden, but with epoxy polymer concrete, the bridge surface was drivable after only 18 hours! Thanks to everyone who worked hard on this project and to YOU for your patience during flagging. We can’t wait until we finish striping next year to see the final result!
